OS Daily Thread - Thursday 4th March

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Thursday 4th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Good to have you with us! Oh and I have been here well over a year and still cannot meal plan more than a couple of days ahead!
Schumie - I hope you feel better today.
Redruby - If you are making jam, I have run out...

Jayward - Lots of positive vibes for you hon
Butterfly - Still sending good thoughts for your niece and great-niece
Celyn - Wow you sound busy! I needed a cup of tea after reading your post..
I'm pleased that your OH work is settled for the time being too and I have to say I chuckled at the thought of an icing covered balloon being sliced into!
flutterby - Enjoy Brecon hon.
JackieO - I hope your arm is continuing to feel better.
Topsy - How far south are you moving?
Nic1 - I haven't tried freezing the tuna quiche as it gets eaten in two days here but I do not see why it wouldn't. I am going to cook it again tomorrow but using bacon pieces rather than the tuna.
Gemma - We got our bread maker from Freecycle and it has worked perfectly for us for months now, so it might be worth a try before you splash out a lot of money. Oh and cottage pie is made with beef mince and shepherds with lamb mince.
Candygirl - awww, JLS are good! Boo has great taste in music.
Dazi - I don't like rides either, never have! I feel like you do about the sea and consider myself lucky to live just 15 mins from the sea front.
I forgot to mention it on Tuesday but lots of my seeds are now seedlings! My improvised 'greenhouses' have obviously done the trick. I am soooooo excited!
We also now have a working shower.
The guy rang on Tuesday afternoon (cutting it to the wire!) and was here at 8am yesterday morning.. and he had driven down from Gloucester! It needed a whole new circuit board but luckily the shower was still in its two yr warranty period, though only just!

Schumie - I hope you feel better today.
Redruby - If you are making jam, I have run out...

for all.

Good Morning everyone
Ive been up since 5am, woke up with a headache, which is now going.
Ive not a lot on today, just toast for the kiddies at school (had them queing up yesterday, hungry lot :rotfl:) then off to do my food shop.
My friend calls round in the afternoon for a coffee, its our only time to catch up with each other.
Last night at work was so funny, the girls has fire training and had to stand outside and watch a video, so I just cleaned around them , Ive sat/cleaned around so many trainings and as there is only me most night I know my procedure but was dissapointed as yet again no sexy firemen turned up, I keep asking :rotfl:
Diva, so pleased your greenhouse's are working, sounds like you have more luck than me with seedsmy DS(9) is the greenfinger one in this house so we have given him some things to grow, his toms last year were lovely
.
Celyn, you are a little whirlwind :rotfl:
JackieO, I too hope your arm is a lot better today
Dazi, Im not going on the rides, I dont like them, if fact they are over with so fast it not worth queing for them (sometimes over an hr). I had promised DD(15) and DS(9) we would go when I moved here but we have not been yet, DD has been in the past but DS has never been before so not expecting him to go on much as he never realy liked the Hunstanton fair rides but them again he was still little then :rotfl:
Tea is HM meatballs a wholewheat spaghetti
I hope eveyone is going to have a happy day today and lots of hugs for those who are in need of them.
Will try to call back later (might be tonight after the big clean I get paid for :rotfl:)
Kind wishes and hugsfor today

N9eav I'm glad you're doing mini weather forecasts again I have missed them and find it very handy when I don't hear any news in the mornings
Diva Yay for your seedlings :j:j I am going to give cherry toms in hanging baskets a go with my DS3 this summer. I shall start off with plug plants though as the cats always knock seedlings off the windowsills eventually. I shall rename you Percy Diva when I need advice I think :A :rotfl:
Last day for the week today which is just as well as I have woken up full of a cold. Am going to get a sausage casserole prepped soon for the slow cooker. I put chunks of potato in at the same time so it's a good one pot meal which only requires a loaf of crusty bread at teatime.
Ironing tonightand I have a few running repairs to do on various items of clothing. I enjoy doing it though & always find it strangely satisfying.
Have a good day everyone & the biggest of hugs to anyone who needs one xxxx0 -
Morning all,
Freezing cold here today, no frost, but a bitter wind, poor OH is on a roof today fixing a chimney brrrrr poor thing.
I am off to work today, will be glad when this week is over. DD came home from school yesterday having had a yogurt fight  her trousers and blazer were covered in it, I have always had the blazer dry cleaned, but had to take a chance and put in in the wm, it came up lovely, and is dry this morning :T, I have had words with her and her friend
Dinner tonight will be chicken chips and peas, veggie burger for dd, nice and simple, got a load of fruit yesterday in the co-op, should last us the week hopefully, although we do get through a load.
Will do another wash tonight, and get it on the airer.
Have good days all xx0 -

Morning all
Love and hugs to those who are sad or poorly.
Dry and very frosty but sun is shining here this morning. OH had early start again. Dinner last night was roast pork, mash, veg and gravy, we seem to be eating alot of this sort of meals at the moment but I want to defrost outside freezer - so not much more to go. Tonights dinner is prawn and pea pilaff, will possibly add a few different bits to this.
Have quite a list of jobs to do today, am off to the scales shortly then to the hairdressers, then home to do my long list of jobs.
Managed yesterday to finally get the Skype sorted so had a chat with my big bro and big sis, technology is wonderful, isn't it? Will be trying to speak to my little sis as I want to get a better look at my new niece, she's 3 weeks old today.
Time to go, have a good day everyone.
Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning all
Beautiful sunshine here again this morning although still cool-ish. Yest turned out to be sunny too, so that is every day this week so far - I could get used to this! Doesn't it put you in a better, more productive mood:D
Diva, might try the bacon one too eventually but am really enjoying the tuna one so much:D
SunnyGirl we did tumbling cherry tomatoes in hanging baskets last year and had literally hundreds of tasty tomatoes. Had to be watered every day though as they very soon dry out but def worth it. We had 4 different types, one of which was a gold colour and they were fantastic tasting! Going to look for them again this year:)
JackieO hope you have recovered from your fall.
Off to the garden centre today as I didn't get there yest then want to knit this afternoon. Tesco have an offer on gammon joints which I picked up yest so that is in the sc cooker now for tea, will have with broccoli, potatoes and carrots. Also want to make butternut squash soup as I have a couple in due to Aldi super 6 offer.
Well have a nice day everyone will check back on news later

Morning all :hello:,
Having real trouble waking up at the moment. Must the painkillers I'm on...
Anyway, arrived home last night to my Mum advising me that I had to delete a certain post off of Facebook as it could be construed as threatening behaviour which I could be arrested for!!!!:eek: Basically some kids (supposedly her friends) were bullying my niece and I politely suggested to them that they might want to back off or I might have to pay them a visit... It was meant to be threatening !!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:And it had the desired effect, they've all backed off of her now but like a chastened child I removed the missive in question:o Anyone got an OS (and untraceable) way to keep nasty kids in line?! :rotfl:
Tea tonight will be gammon and eggs still undecided between onion rings or chips though. Glad it's nearly the weekend tbh - am fast running out of energy, but then it is my first full week at work this year.
Anyway, have a lovely day, hugs to all those in need/want xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,
What you've been out there searching for forever is in your hands0
