Applying for a student railcard online how long do they take to arrive & can you book stating you have one if it isn't in your possession? Would printout of email suffice during this period?7. How long do I have to wait for my Railcard to arrive?
If you are buying your Railcard online we will despatch it within one working day, and send it free by First Class post. We are dependent on the postal service so please allow FIVE working days for your Railcard to arrive. You won’t be able to collect your Railcard from a rail station.
You can only start travelling on discounted tickets once you have received your Railcard. You cannot use your printed out confirmation of sale to get discount. The Railcard is the only proof of entitlement to discount that rail staff are able to accept.
Of course you can't use said ticket until you have the railcard.0 -

Anyway... what fares have you found?
If you are planning to travel on Wednesday, and if you don't mind getting there after midnight, an Advance Single is available at £29.50.
You don't say whether you are ever coming back, but that £29.50 fare (or cheaper) is probably available that way too.
Info from Southern Railway.
If you are eligible for a railcard, it might be worth getting one and knocking a third off fares.0 -
Hi fellow moneysavers!!!
I need to travel from London to Southampton tomorrow. I live in Stratford, East London and need to go to Soutampton university.(Southampton Central) Want to reach their by 8:15am at latest.
The National Rail fare of £36 peak time for return journey is very expensive in my opinion, any other routes or ideas? Sorry for the short notice guys.0 -

Anyway...
Have a look at Megatrain.
£6.00 will get you to Southampton, Central Train Station at 07:00.
£6.00 or £8.00 for the return leg... depending on time.
That's from Waterloo. Jubilee Line from Stratford.0 -
