Hi,
First time on British Rail. Help would be much appreciated.
I want to travel from East London (East Ham) to Blackburn.
I am flexible so it does not have to be blackburn it can be Preston or Bolton, depending on price. Someone can pick me up.
I want 2 adult return tickets
Dates: Thursday 16 June anytime (cheapest fare available)
Return: Sunday 19 June After 5pm.
The price I have seen so far are humongous so please help you savvy internet users!
Thanks.0 -

As you live in London im assuming you have an oyster to get to euston.
Use this website http://www.farefinder.virgintrains.co.uk/ and have the destination as preston. Some as little as £13 single PP on there.one of the famous 50 -
Ok Thanks for the advice. I can see £13 single from london to preston on thursday evening but a return on sunday is a wallopping £37.
Are there any other companies or websites which may be able to lower the fare?
Thanks.0 -

Off Peak Day Single from Bolton to Manchester Piccadilly at £3.20 (valid on all trains on Sundays).
Then either of...
Dep Man Pic 20:20, arr Euston 22:56. Advance Single = £17.00.
or dep Man Pic 20:55, arr Euston 23:48. Advance Single = £11.50.
that last one may be too late for onward travel.0 -

That 'wallopping £37' is still a dirt cheap price - about half the walk on fare. It will be the same wherever you buy it.0 -
Hi Folks,
Generally consider myself to be okay at finding decent deals for most things (even if my wife thinks I take too long researching these things!!) but not a regular train user at all and taking my 4 & 6 year olds from Aberdeen to Chepstow (10 hours ish so wish me luck!)
I think that my youngest goes free and, if I buy a Family and Friends railcard, I can get it for about £270 (plus railcard price). I've been looking at split ticketing but just confuse myself as I seem to need to use 3 or 4 different companies whichever way I go and don't know if my ticket would be valid should I miss a connection after buying seperately. I'm travelling on Friday 1 July and returning on Thur 7 July (any times really).
Bit of a ramble but any advice greatly received - other than drive or fly which aren't viable ;-)0 -

your off peak return is coming up with £168 for you with a F&F railcard. Splitting may help you - but there are a multitude of splitting points
sorry scrap that i thought it was just you and your bairns. Not the wife/
Best bet is go to https://www.railforums.co.uk they have the ticketing programmes over there to try and get you the better dealone of the famous 50 -

I've just bought return travel from Newcastle to Colchester via London, includes the underground, it cost me £3.20! I used £40 of Tesco Vouchers translates into £120 of rail vouchers to spend on red spotted hanky, and used the family and friends railcardRed spotted hanky seems to incorporate all the major rail travel companies, I just searched the whole journey but ticked the box for single journey tickets, it all came up automatically.

Can anyone shed help light on this journey please?
Need 2 adult & 1 child return tickets from Gloucester to Weston Super Mare on July 10th.
Currently no railcard but if it's worthwhile investing to offset the fare reduction then will consider purchasing one.
Thanks in advance0
