I would look on East Coast Trains website... simply because I prefer their user interface... but all the train operating companies sell all the tickets.

Avoid third party sellers, like raileasy and thetrainline, as they charge fees.

Have you read The Cheap Train Tickets article?
  • yeah I've read it, but I'm going back over it

this trip to London is a bit exciting so I sometimes tend to get ahead of myself :o
  • Don't forget 25% discount code 'pizza25' for a Family and Friends Railcard expires midnight 1st Oct 2010

  • I am trying to get a return to Manchester Piccadilly from London Euston for a cheap as possible.
I have been up there before for £22 return, but this time I have found outgoing for £11 but return for £33. Can anyone help to find a cheaper return journey?
going out on Sat 11th December, returning Sun 12th December.

All the sunday's seem to be most expensive.

Just had a look at the Virgin Train advance availability and according to it the cheap advance tickets haven't been released for the 11th/12th, but doing a search on the 11th shows that they have.

There might be planned engineering works on Sun 12th hence why they haven't released cheap tickets yet, the £33 is a Virgin half return which you buy with an advance ticket and the it's price will stay the same.

Another option, but again they haven't been released for the 12th is to travel Manchester - Sheffield - London St P to get this option in you train search engine, advance options 'via sheffield'

Looking to go from grays to york on 14th October and return the next day for myself and hubby. Have looked at east coast trains website but when I put in I have a disabled rail card it says
"Sorry, this railcard is not valid for the selected number of passengers" (2) but I know disabled rail card is valid for one passenger plus one other.
All the other ticket sites still quote me when I put in for disabled rail card but would like to know why east coast trains dont. Also would like to compare the cost with the other sites.

Anyone know of a email adress where I can email east coast trains about this. Thanks

    Well, it works for me.

Using the East Coast Trains website, I can see Super Off Peak Returns for two with disabled railcard for £118.10. Without railcard its £179.00.

Using Advance Singles with railcard it can be done for £79.90... £33.50 out and £46.40 back.

All prices are for two people.

Might be worth trying splitting in London or Peterborough.

Ooops yes just found out how to use it:o
Is it worth booking now or if I wait a week or so will the fare rise. i.e. does it get more expensive the closer you are to the date you want to travel.
