As a baby I never crawled, according to my mum I just stood up and walked no warning or nothing.

James didn't crawl either. He'd spent a day pulling himself up against the sofa and then my Mam was over the next day and I was showing her what he could do. Then all of a sudden he just walked across the room and we couldn't speak as we were properly gobsmacked. He was only 9 months old as well!

Charlotte didn't really crawl much, but she waited till about 10 months until she could sit up, and then seemed to go from sitting to walking in no time at all.

Another Charlotte-ism. I was putting my contact lenses in this morning and she said "ooooh Mam's putting her eyeball stickers in" :rotfl:
Here I go again on my own....
  • I think Tia said that it is more important for premmies to crawl because it develops their muscles which are needed for other things later on. For most babies crawling either happens or doesn't - premmies should be encouraged to crawl (but not trained like monkeys :p)

I think it is the attitude of the physio that is the problem.

Although, incidentally, I train Benjamin to do stuff all the time - that's how he does cute stuff!!

Glad it is not just me!! Did you see that I trained Benjamin to shout 'YAY' and clap when we sang Happy Birthday to him :D Now that was too cute!!

This morning he was being cute all on his own though - we had an ITNG CD on in the car and he was bopping his head, clapping and laughing at Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy :T:T Certainly sent me to work with a spring in my step :D

I do understand why they want him to crawl - it's her attitude to him that annoys me. She has no appreciation of his start and original diagnosis and treats him as a term baby with issues, not a premmie with potential issues, and is very focused on ticking off the boxes in order with no leeway for individuals. She refused to believe me that he's ever rolled, let alone rolled across the room at 3.5mths

Can't imagine why people just sit their babies in a chair and leave them there. :( Was pulling faces yesterday to make her laugh so she started doing them back! :rotfl:She looks like a little old woman. :p
Too many children, too little time!!!

Do you actually get any benefit from seeing her, would you be better not? Considering how far you've come from your own research and work aren't you doing more for him than anyone? :)

She just sounds like a cow!!

Sorry, I was just trying to bring the conversation back to premmie crawling because it was wandering to term babies not crawling (which clearly lots of them don't).

LOL Tara - I love it when they try and copy you! We have been trying to get Benjamin to do a thumbs up but he just points!!
