LoL.. Beenie.. hugs.. At 37 weeks pregnant I was locked out of the house by my 3 year old son... I ran round the back of the house.. climbed onto a wheelie bin.. climbed over a 6ft high wall.. Couldn't manage to smash in the back door.. my neighbour heard the commotion so came over to see what was wrong.. by which time I was practically frantic and sobbing he would be drinking bleach or burning the house down (he was actually giggling and waving at me!!) The neighbour climbed on the bathroom roof an in through the bedroom window (into DS's room with a honking potty full of poo which I didn't know was there but it was July so was rancid!) and he unlocked the door so I could get in....

Had I had a brain.. I would have said 'pass mummy the keys through the letterbox please!'

We simply go into panic mode and don't think logically

anyway, .. half an hour later my waters broke and DD1 was born the next morning..

the moral being.. stop.. take a deep breath.. and think about it sensibly.... and don't scale walls when pregnant!!!

Chris jammed a set of nail clippers in the kitchen door (there is a handle but nothing inside, just the hole) then closed it locking himself in the kitchen. Back door was locked with the key inside it. I ended up gouging out chunks from the door frame to get in (took the handle off but the way it was stuck in it didn't work). Tried to break the door down but a wee set of nail clippers in incredibly strong! He was howling by the time I got in!

We talk to her all the time and if she mis pronounces a work we just say it back in the correct form not as a way of correcting her just so she hears it as it should be IYKWIM.

She has been very cute today I made Smoked Mackeral Pate for lunch and she kept asking for more all afternoon and on a couple of occasions was caught in the fridge helping herself.

She has very unusual tastes though as she likes butter or cheese spread on poppadoms so if you give it to her plain she looks cross and asks for it! I blame DH he introduced her to it.

MDW - didn't want to read and run but don't have any advice other than her speech will come on when she is ready and they all develop differently. The playgroup will be more than used to dealing with all levels (of kids no where near as bright as Katie) and she will be absilutely fine. xxx

MDW - how do you know her speech isn't what it should? is it from comparing to other children etc? are you sure you're not worrying about nothing?

It's from comparing her to other children and things that my mum has said - eg her childminder struggles to understand what she's saying (CM is a friend of mums)

Plus when she had her 2.5 year check they said her speech wasn't up to scratch and would be checking up on her in 6 months and that's up soon.

Speech has always been a concern of mine as she was late to talk, but on the flip side she did walk and potty train early.

I'm sure she'll get there in her own time, you're doing the right thing in repeating the words correctly back to her.

Hiya just hopping over from pregnancy board for a bit of advice
my DS is poorly at the min with a viral infection ,sore throat ,cough being sick .
I am worring myself silly about what if I start in labour (I am due Friday ) and don't really want to ship him off to my Mum and Dad's while he is poorly sick as he is a real Daddys boy when not well

I just don't think I would settle (as much as you can while in labour ) so am thinking if he aint better leave DP at home with him and getting my cousin to be my birthing partner

What do you ladies think ? or am I being silly sure my Mum could manage but just don't want to think that neither of us would be with him
