  • I've got sent a bottle to test that was designed to be similar to the breast - as I FF I told them it I wasn't an appropriate person to test. After lots of faffing I got send a bouncy chair - lovely, but I already had two baby chairs. I had to send the original bottle on to the next tester but had to pepster for the address to send it to, chase for the chair to be sent out, chase for the questionnaire to be sent. Overall I'm not impressed. It was a lot of effort for something I didn't use other than to test IYSWIM

    Hello all,

I've no chance of catching up as haven't been on for a few days but I saw on fb that huge congratulations are due to the Weezl household :j:j
Alex is this morning joining Jack in the Rodney from Emmerdale stakes. pmsl.

Hazlewood necklace to test for Bizziebabies had arrived when I got home. Thought Oh would have been  at it. Explained it to OH, that I was now going for the Holistic approach and he's also willing to try anything now. Now his parents that will be another story, it will wreck their heads.

Welcome Som and thanks for the update Kindof. Hope both you and Elliot are doing ok.

That sounds just like OH's parents, we can start a club :) All I know is Isla's necklace works for her so I'm sticking with it!
Hey again, I have 2 mins while i'm waiting for Stu to get here.

Saw Elliots consultant at 9am who is over the moon with him, they took him off the oxegyn last night and he was fine overnight not on it, so he wants to discharge him back to Ashington tommorrow yay.

The MW came to see me before and said she can't justify me staying here now, cos I don't need their care, she was evil, so I'm being ddischarged later.

So hopefully it means me and stu will get a good nights sleep together tonight and Elliot will be back in our home town tommorrow.

Anyone know how long he will have to stay in hospital? like if there isnt anything clinically wrong with him why do they make babies stay in?

Sorry to hear the MW wasn't nice with you but so glad to hear Elliot is a step closer to coming home. Lot's of hugs for you and your family x

I must have struck lucky with BB, I got a vtech monitor worth £80. It's far more than I would have spent on one but it is a good monitor and I'm glad to have it, especially seems as it only cost £5.

Fritha, I was just thinking of you :) I've been practicing my rebozo with my new sling, a deep sea fishies. Although now I'm tempted by fire fishies too!

BB, all I have had is a book worth 6.99....Not sure whether I will get anything else as that covers the membership cost and therefore there side of the agreement?

Took Jaden to the hospital today Orthotics dept. The guy we saw was great, he did comment that J was extremely flexible, also that his feet are quite out of line and because they are beginning to stiffen up (Achilles tendon) he needs more than just insoles...so he has to have full supporting insoles that go around the heel and a pair of special support boots, apparantly he will need to wear both until he is skeletally mature at 18yrs old!!! He did say that if there is any improvement around the teenage years then we could maybe stop with the boots but he will definitely still need the full supports until 18...also some support maybe into adulthood.

I feel a bit upset for him but obviously I would never show him, and I turned it into a positive thing saying how much better his legs and feet will feel with his new trendy boots. Also told him that he will get a nice new pair free of charge everytime his feet grow....Thankfully the boots are ok looking...similar to sort of Kickers/Cat style boots:)

So far I have one child with strange teeth that will need an op and a brace on and one child with a bendy body and funny feet that needs special shoes...Hmmm can the other two outdo them??

    Mel x

    Flexible working advice needed!

Ok, I am Assistant Manager 48hr contract, I report to Manager (sml Boss), she and I both report to Area Manager (middle Boss) and he reports to Big Boss. Big Boss deals with Assistant Man and Manager hiring and firing but I have to go through Area Manager to get to him. With me so far?

I made a verbal request to middle manager about returning to work PT on a 30 hr Assistant Manager contract. (A collegue at another store has this contract and I was offered it when pregnant but turned it down as it would have cost me over 2k in lost holiday/maternity pay to take it.)
So Middle boss said no, there is no such thing as a PT contract but I will ask Big Boss.
Heard nothing back but MB has led Manager to believe that I will be back 48hrs on the 3rd May with no further discussions.

There is absolutly no way I can work 48hrs with a 6mth old baby! its flexible 8am-8pm 7 days a wk and the childcare would be a nightmare.

Now, I'm going to put in a written request to Big Boss and I think MB doesn't know what hes talking about.

What do I put in the letter re business reasons? Can I just not list any reasons why I can go PT and just wait and if he says no argue against his reasons?

As far as I can tell he could only turn me down for the following 2 reasons
    1) PT contract doesn't exsist. My answer being yes it does, I have been previously offered it, others have it.
    2) FT hrs are required for my role. My answer being that there was no maternity cover for my role! How can they say I must do 48hrs when the work is not there.

Now, if I don't get PT and he (BB) successfully argues that the needs of the business require a FT Assistant Manager, am I just expected to walk away from my job or should they be offerring me an alternative part time role ie non managerial?????

OH went to the station later on and gave a statement. Got home gone midnight. Said chav is being charged with public disorder and is not allowed near us or our property. Just a little worried about Joe playing out now, but we are to ring the police straight away if any problems. OH is hero of the street, because every one hates him.

Pheww!. Long story. But a good un. :rotfl::rotfl:

It does help as trying to yank your top up while it's tied underneath a sling is an adventure! (Bet you can't guess how I know that!)

It is easy one you get the hang of it, essentially sproglet is tied in the joey they yell for milk, untie the knot under their bum, and retie it further down the straps, then jiggle and jump and wiggle until they're lower down and the knot is tight under their bum again. The opposite of getting them in basically! I can demonstrate at the next sling meet (Weds 10-12) if you remind me!
Thanks hun, I won't be at the weds one (too early for us :o) but we'll be at the next friday one - is that our day our or is that the one after? what we doing? not sure what this place is like or how easy it is to get to http://www.crackpotscafe.co.uk/schools-and-groups/

    Is there?? How bizarre!

I haven't had a reply of tech yet if I don't get one soon I will pester them again.... I think they should at least tell me the reason why it is sensored.

I can't tell you the name as MSE won't let me;)

you could just bold/underline the e that should be accented like Aimee
or draw it in paint then upload it to photobucket to show us :D

The way I understand it they have to have a good business reason for turning down a request for flexible working. Since it was previously all done verbally with someone else, I would just put it in writing as a first request but mention that there is a part time contract in another store and that nobody has been covering your ML as a way of supporting your request.

Oh, Elle. Funny. OH had ructions will chav next door. He's 18, and was kicking ball at our car, would normally be a small problem, but much more so, as it is a hire car and we are liable for any damages. OH banged on window told him to pack it in, chav didn't take kindly to it. OH went out to him, grabbed hold of him and asked chav to hit him, so he could hit him back. Chav did not. Once released gobbed off again. OH came back in. Then Chav re-appeared in front of car, holding a massive sick, threatening to smash the headlights. OH ran for the door, as he go outside, a police man was shouting at chav to get down on the floor, whilst pointing a tazer at him.

:rotfl:How funny for the rest of the street! Not for the little chav B. obviously! :rotfl:

Petite zia no good for shorties?? Oh dear, am excitedly waiting for mine!

I'm 5'7" and find it comfy, but MIL is only 5' nothing and she loves pushing it too! When is yours coming?

I've been busy all day trying to sort stuff out to pack for our weekend away, and was rudely interupted by my best work friend who came and took us up to the local cafe for breakfast. :D

I think the lappy is staying here for the weekend, so don't chat too much, and don't let me miss anything exciting.

Kindof Did you see MM offering you her PM box a day or so ago. I think Dylan may have had something similar to Elliot. Hugs for you - make the most of getting some decent sleep, because you won't when Elliot is home. :)

CSH - I don't know if this helps but I have just been discussing what will happen when I return to work with my regional manager. I am a store manager and work 37.5 hours a week over 5 days, mon - sat which a day off which should change every week to suit the needs of the business. My assistant manager is on a 30 hour contract.

I want to return to work on a 30 hour contract, 4 days a week, with fixed days off for nursery cover. My RM has basically said that as long as she is still there this won't be a problem (how lucky am I to have an understanding female boss?!) but officially I need to put it in writing to HR.

She has advised me that in my letter I need to state what I want to do and how it will be achieved (ie my asst mgr will do the extra day) and also anything that will help my cause. Eg when my ast mgr is on holiday my parents will be able to have the baby as a one off so that I can step up to full time hours that week, same if there is a regional meeting for me to attend, if I'm required to stay late DH will be able to pick baby up from nursery etc.

In your case I would definitely mention how you were offered the 30 hr role while pregnant and that other people in region have it. It might be worth getting in touch with the other 30 hour people to find out how it works where they are and how the other hours are covered.

It seems very unreasonable to expect the mother of a 6 month old baby to work so many hours, and I think you would have really good grounds for appeal if they do refuse you

Can I just not list any reasons why I can go PT and just wait and if he says no argue against his reasons?you don't have to provide reasons so yes you could just wait to see if they say no, although it would be in your interests to but something in there pointing out the positives of how it would work.

As far as I can tell he could only turn me down for the following 2 reasons
    1) PT contract doesn't exsist. My answer being yes it does, I have been previously offered it, others have it.can you prove this easily? do you have a written copy of the offer?
    2) FT hrs are required for my role. My answer being that there was no maternity cover for my role! How can they say I must do 48hrs when the work is not there.good reason :) just be careful with that though, they may decide they don't need you back!

IFAIK they do not have to offer you any other role, they are within their rights to say we can't accommodate your request so if you no longer want your job you can hand your notice in (you'd need to confirm that but I'm pretty sure that is still the case)
