    Hi quick question,

Izzy has started banging her head on the floor when she is crying, and its anything from I'm bored to I am hungry that shes doing it for. She gets herself so worked up that she is inconsolable (so much that she cant eat sometimes), it started happening about 2 weeks ago and only happens once or twice a day but she can carry on for upto an hour. Any one got any ideas? I have tried distracting her, taking her out, cuddles, raspberries on tummy, restraining her, nothing seems to work! Is this just a phase? She is 11 months.

    Hope everyone is well :D

PS I was given a 10m swimming certificate by my primary school when I had already swum 1 mile the year before in private lessons.

Hi Tickle - my Elijah (who is 20 months) and Keely's Elliot (who is about a month younger) have been doing this/did this for some months, although Izzy has started earlier I think!

Apparently it is quite common in toddlers (one site I read said "1 in 4" !) and it's definitely just a phase but can last quite a while. Elijah seems to be past the peak and is now doing it only in extremis, but there was a period of more than a month when his forehead was constantly visibly bruised :(
Supposedly one should try to continue acting completely normally with them, don't get angry but also don't give a big response that might encourage them to do it more - roll your eyes, sigh, and give them cuddles a few seconds afterwards when they're crying but ideally with a little gap. Easier said than done!

Good luck - it was really frustrating for a while.

DS1 used to bang his head off the floor, till one day he did it in the garden onto concrete slabs. Funnily enough, he never did it again.

I used to just let him get on with it, evil mummy that I am.

Charlotte amazes me with stuff she comes out with. She randomly shouted "curly c for cupboard" last night and I said "do you know anything else that starts with curly c?" and she rattled off cheese, chocolate and chicken. No idea where that has come from.
possibly the answer is ....cbeebies :D They have a phonics show that Chris randomly spouts facts from so could be the same for Charlotte?

Still catching up but had to reply to this and say I took her to the docs the other week and GP was asking is she developing OK? weight OK? Hv's Happy? So I said No HV's not happy because weight is below 2nd centile, GP says Oh well, someones got to be there! (why couldn't I see him months ago when they were on my case)

Anyway she's fine, I've no idea how much she weighs cos I've stopped taking her (but last time she had shot up towards 25th centile) she is still in 6-9M clothes so v mse!

I can't believe how many words Benjamin has and his walking! El pretty much only says mummy daddy and 'high 5' and she will not let go and walk.
yey for sensible GPs! I 'm loving High 5! so sweet.

I read last night but brain is mush so can't comment on most of it!
I just wanted to say I think you should read up about fluoride before blindly doing as you're told on using adult toothpaste, it's not something I want my boys swallowing from such a young age so we still use milk teeth tp.

tickle the head banging is a common phase of tantrum throwing, I would fling a cushion under if I could but otherwise ignored him until he came to me rubbing his sore head and I'd say something like "well it will hurt if you bang it on the floor" then give him the cuddles, I'd always wait for him to come to me, I wouldn't go to him tho.

Grrr Joe Cole has given his daughter MY baby name as her middle name, tut!

While the husband's away the wife will ... do her day job, look after the baby and tidy the apartment.

It's all right for some. He boogers off to work and comes home to find that the fairies have done the laundry and the dishes, populated the shelves he half built and abandoned, cleared up the DIY mess, taken out the rubbish and done whatever else I can fit in the day as WELL as writing a presentation and keeping the baby amused, entertained and safe.

oh Aless apparently Kerry Katona is heading your way lol
Kerry also has two children with her estranged husband Mark Croft, Heidi, 3, and Max, 2. Kerry and her kids are moving out of their home and going to Sussex to apparently start anew again.
