They do give all the figures on the HMRC website - I always calculate mine.
    2009/10
    Reduction threshold 6420
    Reduction rate 39%
    WTC basic element 1890.70
    Second adult element 1861.50
    30 hr element 777.45
    CTC family element 547.5
    Child element 2237.45
Baby addition element was similar to child element when we qualified.
There's also a higher threshold for reduction but it doesn't apply to us so don't have details.
Sorry Susan, this might aswell be in arabic for all I understand it!! What's the business with reductions and second adults?

I think I have a dilema about to crop up regarding the fella that got me pregnant the first time and his family... :o

    Hello,

Thought I would graduate to the parent thread as my baby is a week old today! Sophie was born on the 13th April via c-section, we only got out of hospital on Sunday as I wasn't very well after she was born.

    Jolene

    Congratulations and welcome! X :D

Tara - some insurance companies do take years driving company cars into account for your no claims.

Thanks, but it seems with the new more eco friendly cars we can get quite a good deal anyway, and it nice not having to think about the upkeep! :A I would like to in the future though.

Som, always, I think we should run with the idea. Are there days of the week that are better for others? I think I might only be able to make it when DH has off (and can drive us) as public transport is a bit complex (doable, just a bit faffy). If we're talking soonish, I can do next Friday (April 30) or generally after that Wednesdays work for us.
top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

would like to win a holiday, please!!

If you earn below the reduction threshold you get the maximum. If you earn above it then they reduce your award by 39% of what you earn over the threshold. The second adult element of WTC is for if there are two adults in the household. I think it was all explained in the original application pack I got and then I've just looked up the figures each year on the HMRC website. Your award notice should tell you which elemnts they are using for the calculation.

Oh, funny - I bought a saloon-model Lanos (V reg) new, in 1999 :) Been driving it 10 years and really it's been a great car, but it's a bit worn down now and I could use a bit more space.

Hmmm - maybe mine was a W reg? I don't think it was a V (my first car was a V reg but the old-old-old kind ;)). I dunno, 'twas a VERY long time ago.

Hoping the work/wages/money convo will end soon:( Which is why I didn't post again last night!

K has got his 5th tooth and number 6 is about ready to burst through anyday now:D

You surprise me Mel, you and hubby have both been in education bettering yourselves recently and you seem to do alright - there is no way we could afford 4 kids with associated games consoles, bigger car, double buggy etc etc that goes with them. I can't even afford your new fridge freezer ATM. You should be proud.

    Yay for teeth!!

It is a pain having to pay for services, new tyres etc especially when Honda charged me £8 for putting screen wash in the car at the last service  theiving b00gers!!

Alice is pretending to be Beenie today. Apparently Amber is very advanced as she (one of Alice's teddybears) is sitting in a chair reading a book.
