New cars are a waste of money anyway

Pay £12k, a few years later sell it for 7k or something.
Me: buy banger for £250, if it's still alive in a few years, sell it for £250.
What you do is buy one thats less than a year old, that way some other mug/the garage have paid the 17.5% tax on it and you get it for whats its actually worth. Got my £11K car for £8.5K :money:
Fitzio/CSH - Have a lovely day
Fitzio - J was only 17lbs 10z last week (think it was 31 weeks) but doesn't feel that much lighter than my friends LO who is 20lbs 4oz!
Lovely day here and according to my weather station  it shall remain so definitely a walk to tiny stars in the new pushchair!
Boo - *picks herself up off the floor* Hadn't realised it was a 10am start *faints again* but no problem re picking you up. Just let me know which station and me and J will be there.
SS - exciting news about Oh and don't think I commented on Molly's picture, she looks stunning.
I'm of the opinion that if you want something then you can get it but you have to work hard to get it, I worked !!!!!! jobs for years until I found a job doing admin in a doctors surgery. I worked 10hr days even though I only got paid for 7.5, this was seen and I was encouraged to apply for a deputy managers position after just 18months. At 21 I was the youngest person that worked there but I knew more about the running of the place than people who had been there for 20years and just stuck at the same job day in day out.
SM - If you don't know what you want, why not try focusing on bettering yourself in your current job? I know you don't particularly like working there but if you went into work with a really positive attitude (not saying you don't already) and tried to really, really, really excel yourself while you were there (going over the top with customer service, offering to help out when short staffed, during QUIET periods asking if there's anything else you could be getting on with but doign this every day) then after a while your boss will notice this so when you have a review you could ask for more responsibility or even to do some work-based courses.
Its not all about going to college - I've done NVQ's in Business Admin & Management whilst working and there are loads of other things you could ask to do like becoming a first aider for the work place or going on a Health & Safety course.
Hope that helps xxA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

glam cant get anywhere in my job been told that i cant go any further unless im full time (ei supervisior) and cant go full time as there isnt the hour hence looking for a new job or a second ...
i think what has kept me at this job its that it is extremely flexible and if you want to change hours or whatever they have no problem in it .. which is great for the kids x
Still searching .....:)

SM Ive been admin in my job for 5 years now i'd love to progress, but its just too convenient, there changing me to 3 days when i go back and its literally 2 mins from home. to progress id have to be full time and move to a city centre office in manchester which would add an hour on to my morning journey and hour to my evening, id have to leave the house at 7 and be home about 6. which im not prepared to do for a few extra grand.
some days i think id love to have a better career but my personal life means so much more to me and id rather leave home at half 8 and be home for half 4 and have a few hours with Am before bed

But you can still put the effort in - people leave jobs all the time. What if the current supervisor was to leave? Then there would be a full-time position and who would they look for?
Someone that
already worked there
had proved there are hard working
knows the ins and outs of the business
shows intiative and is pro-active
You could be that person if you worked at it.
You could say to your boss 'I'm really interested in learning more about xyz, if I came in for an extra or two unpaid would you be able to show mehow it all works?'
Yes OK it means having to go in for extra time BUT it would mean you learn new skills and would make your boss think 'Wow, Searchie is really keen to learn new stuff. There's a course going on in such and such a town, I'll send her this time instead of Joe Bloggs'A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Excellent points Glam. I was one of 159 applicants for my job. I got it because I'd done a statistics programming course and I was the only one who'd chosen to make sure I had skills outside my specific area. You have to stand out from the other people who want the same stuff but don't want to put the effort in.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

I'm just a nosey bint who wants to know how everything works, I also like to know everything - yes I was the irritating person in school who ALWAYS had her hand up but I sat at the back so redeemed myself by being a little shiote :cool:A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

I only applied for the job because they advertised that you got a company car being a receptionist and I wanted a Matiz!!! I got a brand new Lanos, S reg (it was 1999) in a lovely bright red. I was sad to leave the job, just because I had to give the car back!!
Oh, funny - I bought a saloon-model Lanos (V reg) new, in 1999
Been driving it 10 years and really it's been a great car, but it's a bit worn down now and I could use a bit more space. 0
