Morning
Hope the sicky ones feel better soon xx
Bairns off to my parents caravan again this morning, so I can revise all weekend. Get the back for tea tomorrow, so it's not too long, but I'll still miss them like mad
Charlotte is doing my hair again while I type. Craig bought her a Girls World head, but she still likes playing with my hair moreHere I go again on my own....0 -
Aw Jillie I hope your sister's ok and you have a cup of tea ready for her
My ex was coming to my parents' for Christmas once and his flight was cancelled due to fog. Then the fast ferry to Liverpool was cancelled because the sea was too rough. So the Liverpool foot passengers, including a planeload of stranded people, were brought on the night ferry from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead and bussed up to the ferry terminal, where they all had to organise themselves because nobody was there for them  eventually they organised themselves into taxi groups and he turned up 18 hours late and smelling like nothing on earth. He was exhausted and although I'd made his breakfast I put it in the microwave and insisted he go take a shower.
The weekend postwoman woke us this morning. Apparently she's lost the key to the front door of our building (making me feel very secure...) and has to ring to be let in, but she didn't respond to me asking who it was when she rang the entryphone so OH went down and asked her exactly why she thought it was ok to ring the bell that has specifically "don't ring - baby sleeping" on it, and she tells him that babies should be up by 8:50am. This one's sick and wasn't, and so were her parents
Still raging about last night, even worse because OH claims he was asleep and doesn't remember it.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
Three gifts left to buy0 -
Morning all, why is it that I have to wake the baby on weekdays but he is bright as a button at 6.30am on Saturday? I am in the bath whilst hubby does breakfast duties and then I am determined to make it to toddle group at 10am. I havent been for months, my rl mummy friends will be disowning me!
Krystal - your friend is taking the pee! I would never stay out that late without prior arrangement and a Tenner is pants.
SS - hope you feel better soon.
Get well vibes to all the poorly kiddies.

We had a gift list available on request but only mentioned it if people asked. Evidently we didn't want enough as it ran out. I think about 50% gave money, 25% gifts from the list and 25% gifts of their own choosing. The weekend postwoman woke us this morning. Well I got the baby settled just after 2 and then I couldn't drop off properly at all (overtired?!) She then decided 6am was as a good a time to start the day as any... I made the mistake of asking hubby to get up with her, he gave me until half 8 then came and woke me up with a row about how tired he was and it's not his fault my friend kept us up until 2am... 'Cause, you know... He didn't sleep on the sofa at all while I was out...
Do you have a new pair of post-lady style shoes now SS? How very rude to be telling you what time babies should be up!!
Hope you have a quiet day with plenty of rest!

Just did a big catch-up, think I will have a go at a mammoth post but I failed to use multi-quote wisely and obviously remember one tenth of what I read
First and most important, big hugs and comfort to all the people having hard weeks - I was checking the forum every 15 mins at work for a couple of days in case of updates for poor Charlie and Cazglad he's on the up, hopefully other babies will not get hit quite as hard as he did. Also hoping that Abi and Erin didn't get it badly and are already over it!
Tia, I hope Amber doesn't have anything too serious, and I think it's great that you could have a doctor come out and visit at that time of night, at least. Maybe she'll have recovered overnight
Scruf made El's sickness sound pretty matter-of-fact but I bet that's just because she's tough and really it was a hard few days there too!
It sounds like 3's house have suffered but are on the way to recovery too? Must be such a drag when you have a houseful....
Mel, ack for the rest coming down with it - I suppose it's good that they waited til after you'd recovered,,, sort of... fingers crossed it passes quickly!
Sugar, not good if it's keeping you awake tooyou need sleep to get well quicker! And the 'impatience when they won't settle' is v much the same issue as I have with my OH. Aggravating.
So much sickness gosh  I think I have forgotten someone else sickly and if so I am very sorry
And poor MFDat least you have a cheering baby of good value, but redundancy and your uncle in the same week
next week has to be better!
Krystal, I am amazed at your heroic late night babysittings, that is beyond cheek. I hope she was and is very grateful guilty and apologetic! I'm afraid I don't stalk my distant cousin very closelyso I missed that appearance!
Newbie_maz, your sleep situation sounds like an extremer version of what we had around the same time; lots and lots of walking round and round the block with baby in the stroller til he eventually slept for 40 minutes, etc, way less sleep than "recommended" per day, many night-time wakings... eventually at least part of our difficulty was found to come from reflux (disturbing him when lying down, til medication started to help), but also he got older and developed some better sleeping skills over time. He's still not a great sleeper now (they do say babies who sleep less are smarter ;p or at least I like to pretend they do).
The reason saying "it's a phase" can be helpful is because it's light at the end of the tunnel, by the way! Can't remember who complained about that phrasebut sometimes all you can do really is "keep on trying til things change". A sling was a good suggestion, some babies sleep better than anywhere else.
Uhm...uhm what else was I going to comment on *wracks brains*
The volcano - I work in an area related to business travel, and ohh my lord it's carnage out there! My boss is stuck in Moscow and utterly furious, a couple of my team spent drove the width of France on Thursday night in a hire car (and picked up 2 speeding tickets...) arriving at 4am to be in good time for a customer meeting... not to mention our very troubled customers and the financial impact.
Hmm... forgotten something else, oh well.
Now I am breaking the second half of my post off as it is just too long.0 -
I am sad not to hear more from lovely Weezl, and I hope it is just because she is busy with being multiple mummy and not because there are any problems, and that her financial/work situation has found an acceptable resolution?
Has Buttons been out the last day or two or did I imagine that?
Cheery things:
Elijah is just completely and utterly adorable. It is a bit much.
When he is playing, he will break off now and again to seize your leg, foot or hand, wrap himself around it and declare "CUGGLES Hand! (or foot, or leg)" before going back to his game.
He has gotten very into his alphabet blocks. He can identify every number and letter most of the time now (needs to work on his proununciation a bit) and takes great pride in naming and labelling. He also is building towers ("TAMmers") a lot now, and cackling wildly when they fall over.
He reads at least 10 books a day sitting in our laps, and his latest thing is to drag your finger along the words he wants you to read. Very determinedly. He remembers a lot of them, so he will shout "SEEPY!" then drag your hand to the line which says "They're all getting sleepy" and beam at you when you get it right
When he wants you to do something, he tries to tell you ("More more MORE GAHdun" etc) but if you don't immediately get it, he will start dragging you into position. For a day earlier this week he became obsessed with washing his hands - every few minutes you HAD to take him into sink or bathroom and hold him while he held his hands under the tap. Much crying when you took him away. Or yesterday afternoon it was the button to flush the toilet cistern. Luckily most of these things pass quickly.
When out walking, he loves to run now, sometimes requires jogging to keep up. We're looking at a little scooter soon I think. But whenever he passes a lady or child (not a man) walking, he stops and gives them a huge grin, bends down and touches his nice red shoes that he likes, and declares "SHOOS" to them and watches for a reactionthey are usually charmed ;p
When he sees my bare tummy, he has a habit of scrunching his face up in what we call his 'devil-face', declaring "LICK" then advancing - he gives my tummy one lick then collapses laughing. if I don't let him he gets very stroppy.
He has had some dodgy nights again recently, think he was a bit tummy-unsettled judging by his nappy anyway, and his getting-up time could really do with being a bit later than 6
On a final note, as you are my internet friends and unreal, it is ok to say that we are at the BFP stage. Only 4-5 weeks in so no real news beyond that. OH is a bit anxious as she is much crampier this time than last, she sees the doctor on Tuesday just in case.0 -
