  • Thanks you three, that's the sort of things I wanted to hear. Oh I'm definitely done with the partying now and visitors can only smoke in our house in the kitchen by an open window. Wondering what to do with my weekend evenings for a while now though. rchddap1 I bet you'll be fine, and you'll have your old body back before long, feel like mine's just been taken for use by another being! Becles I'm in Durham, so not far from you at all.

    hey guys.
did you all know as soon as you conceived or did it come as a shock? my friends pregnant and its really confusing me, lol, i don't know why. guess it was a shock - she didn't even want kids.
she says she knew straight away, but i dunno whether you can, i mean what symptoms come immediately? i thought you had to be a few weeks gone before you can tell.

I knew immediately...before I did the test. Can't say how because I didn't really have any symptoms. I just 'knew'.

With my first I had symptoms within a few days (funny tase in my mouth, feeling a bit queasy, sore boobs, tearful for no reason) .

With my second, I knew at the time of conception (!). I can't explain why, I just had a very strong feeling that this was 'the one' lol! I wasn't in the mood for 'trying to conceive' ;) at all that day, but my whole body was screaming 'You're fertile, get in that bedroom right now'! It sounds bizarre and I don't usually tell people because they'll think I'm weird :D!!

Even though we'd been trying, I didn't feel any different. When I was about 5 days late I started to get an inkling that I might be though ;)
  • I've a question for the more experienced mummies here.

This is my first baby and I saw in my notes that my consultant has written 3/5ths. I assume this is related to the head down position my baby is currently in? Am I also assuming correctly that once he is 5/5ths I am in labour? I am nearly 34 weeks and hoping this is not the case or will the transition from 3/5ths to 5/5ths take the remaining 6 weeks I may have left?

My MW tells me my baby is also in the wrong position and he needs to turn. His back is currently facing my back causing me a lot of backache, she has advised some things to help him turn but did say there is still plenty of time yet. If he is 3/5ths engaged will his head stop him from turning especially if he goes 4/5ths over the upcoming weeks?

Sorry for all these questions but my pregnancy book doesn't really cover this.

Hope someone knows, otherwise I am going to try remember to discuss this with my MW when I see her. But my memory is awful at the moment.

    Thanks
    Bay

Yes, that's 3/5 engaged. That's what I was last week at 38 weeks, but this is second baby for me - first baby engages earlier than later babies for some reason. From memory of first time around, I'm pretty sure baby can be fully engaged without labour starting, but I'm not an expert.

With my first she had been the right way around all the way through the pregnancy and then turned around so she was back to back, in the final week before she was born . The head had been engaging for weeks, so yes, it's definitely still possible for them to turn. Get on that birthing ball or start scrubbing those floors! She ended up being an emergency section as she was so wedged into my pelvis. Saying that, I know plenty of friends who have had back to back babies naturally, but it is supposed to make the birth more painful, so definitely worth doing those exercises.

HI Bailey my baby (8 weeks tomorrow) was back to back too. DD was still back to back in labour! 40 weeks plus 10 days. The midwife told me that Most babies turn in labour! DD didn't as she was too big (10lb) tut tut.

    GOOD LUCK. Plenty of time.

p.s my friends baby was the same and the midwife turn her baby in labour. DON'T WORRY.
