Bless her. Makes me realise what its all for when I see lovely little pics like that.

OH has gone off to some car boots again. He's managed to pick up a box full of clothes for up to 1 year of age for only a few pounds. Far better deal that our shopping trip yesterday at Pumpkinpatch.

Oh yes it's definitely all worth it. We bought quite a few things from car boots too. We've also been bought loads of clothes i don't know when shes's going to have time to wear them all. Sizes seem to vary from shop to shop we have had clothes which are meant to be 0-3 months but they are massive and then people have bought us the next size up but she was only 6lb 9oz so will only fit into newborn at the moment.

Many congrats. Of course you can join. Just need to copy and paste the most recent list and add yourself in :D.
  • Congrats, you must be very chuffed. She looks a real cutie! Also congrats to all the new mummies to be who have added themselves to the list.

I'm feeling a little down today, despite my efforts of trying to eat more and be less active, I was told today unless I can gain up to a stone between now and early December, I stand very little chance of being able to breastfeed. I lost more weight last week and at times feel very tired.

I dont' see how I am going to be able to put on that amount of weight, its a lot in 2 months. But I can see how I haven't the reserves to produce milk at the rate things are going.

It doesn't take much to reduce me to tears at the moment, bloomin' hormones.

How heavy are we supposed to be to be able to breastfeed?

Mmm, was wondering that myself. Lost so much weight at the beginning of the pregnancy with all the sickness and loss of appetite - I'm only half a stone heavier than pre preg weight with 2.5 weeks to go.

Mind you, am going to hospital armed with bottles and formula after last time I tried to breastfeed my boobs ended up about 100 times more painful than my caesarean wound - it was agony (notice how the midwives never tell you that it can be like that) - I gave up after a week and felt so guilty and useless. DD was the healthiest baby/toddler in spite of being bottle fed, never went hungry like a lot of my breastfeeding friends' babies did, so I'm certainly not going to put myself through all that old crap again if the same thing happens this time around

I also have lansinoh cream and nipple shields packed in the bag though, so I mean to give it a good go.
  • I dont know how heavy we have to be in order to breast feed, but I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I haven't gained any weight at all, so when he is born, I will lose weight maybe up to a stone, which puts me at quite underweight and no reserves for milk production.

I have two months to try to reverse this situation as I've always wanted to be able to breast feed.

Nipple cream, thanks for that I haven't put mine in the bag yet. Forgot!!!
  • :T Just added my bump to the list! :T

    For Bailey:
While not pregnant, I went from 7st 5lbs to 8st 7lbs in a couple of months by becoming a professional couch potato and eater of all things calorific! Namely, things like making my weetabix with Horlicks, eating bread with everything... dumplings, & extra helpings of things.
    You get the picture.
I must say I have never been one for filling up on cola or cordial when a wholemilk drink would have a better nutritional punch.
Lots of luck to you - I fed my 1st (hungry herbert) child for nearly 8 months & swore by a blob of kamillosan on his top lip and on my nipples before he latched on. I only had tenderness for a day or two & I am the first to moan about pain!

  • you don't need to take your own bottles and formula to hospital. they will provide them for you in premade glass bottles, as you wouldn't be able to sterilise your own bottles while staying there.

as for breastfeeding, if you have concerns, talk to your midwife. All of ours are fantastic. Don't know if that is because we are in a surestart area. They will be able to advise you on any aspect of technique, and weight.

just got back from visiting my friend and her 5 week old. It has cheered me up no end as there is some light at the end of the tunnel. :D I had been feeling a bit down yesterday as i was tired and fed up.

    Hope you are all ok.

    Michelle, x
