I wish I was one of those women who finds out she's pregnant really late. This waiting is very weird.

I was very slim before I had my first child. The midwife never confirmed the pregnancy - they just take your word for it! :rolleyes:

I didn't have any physical symptoms of pregnancy at the time of my 12 week scan - I didn't have a bump at all and I never suffered from any morning sickness. I was paranoid in case I had the scan and there was nothing there at all! Not every woman will get morning sickness and I'm very happy to be one of those women.

Needless to say, I know have a very healthy active child to prove that there was something inside my tummy, after all! Just try to relax and enjoy being pregnant without feeling fat and sick!!!

She's feeling a lot better today, thanks. Ate a good plate of spag bol and was even perky enough to tickle me and tease me about my balding head (a great source of amusement to all, apparently).

Sounds like she's ready for a snowball fight! Hee hee.

Can someone reassure me that having LOTS of twinges is okay. At 7 weeks I'm assuming it's just stuff re-arranging itself. The doc just shrugged and said its probably normal, like she had no clue, and I don't get a midwife till mid March. I was going to go to hospital for the blood tests and maybe have a sneaky chat with someone, but it's too snowy to drive.
The twinges vary from cramp to pulling to sharp. Not constant but enough for me to worry. It sounds serious just writing it down! NHS direct!

No, it's normal at your stage - like you say, there's lots of rearrangement happening in there, bits stretching etc. You can always ring your midwives for reassurance ahead of your appointment. Obviously you need to see a doctor if they get really painful, but the twinges you are describing sound very normal to me. I remember finding some info about it when I was experiencing the same thing, will see if I can find it.

Here's something on babycentre for 7 weeks - apparently at this stage your uterus has stretched from size of a fist to a grapefruit.

Thank you purplepatch, thank you, thank you! A grapefruit! I wouldn't notice, too fat anyway... It is sooooo unfair that there are no set rules and symptoms for pregnancy - how are you supposed to know when something's wrong??

Am I crazy yet? I was telling the foetus to look at the snow, as by the time he's out maybe there'll never be snow again. (calling it HIM means it's deffo a girl - although actually does it have a sex yet?)

Sounds similar to what I experienced and I think it said something in one of my books from the midwife that it's your small intestine being pushed out of the way by your growing uterus.

Well, I'm off for a scan soon (29 weeks) and consultant antenatal appointment at hospital. Unfortunately they had to postphone my glucose tolerance test as I'm on antibiotics for a cough so still got the joy of a 12 hour fast to come.
