Water infections are common in pregnancy. I would get checked out just to be on the safe side.

Take a sample of urine when you see the doctor/midwife, and those strips they dip in will indicate if there is infection there.
Here I go again on my own....

    Hi,
Just wanted to thank everyone again for all the reassurance when I asked about being 'small for dates' a fortnight or so ago. The good news is we had another scan today to check on things (34 wks +2) and everyone seems happy that baby's measurements are actually fine. Estimated weight today was 5lb 9oz, so if anything the little one could end up being on the large side! (i'll no doubt worry about that now instead!!! )

Just to add to others' comments about first appointments... My GP appointment was just the 'you've done a test - congrats!' thing too. Wished I'd lied and said I'd not done a test then, coz I was desperate for someone to tell me it was real! Even my first appointment with the midwife was disappointing, as she just got me to fill in all the forms and told me what I could and couldn't eat. Was told to leave an hour for the session and was out in 20 mins, so don't get too excited about that one either!!

Does anybody know where is a good place to get mattresses from? We've been lent a cot and given a Moses basket so just need to get mattresses for them.

Try Mama's and Papa's or John Lewis....although there is a company out there called "Gemma" that do mattresses exactly the same as the Mama's and Papa's range - you could always try google to check it out... our local pram centre sell the range - but at a rough guess Stirling probably isn't your closest town!!!:o

Thanks for all your comments. I had to go to work today and I tried to get Mrs Steveeeee to visit the doctor during the day but she didn't feel well enough to leave the house. She did take a paracetamol and ate some biscuits, fruit, weetabix, and drank a few pints of water, and when I got home she ate the chicken, beansprouts, and rice I cooked for her (the plain version of the spicy stir fry we had down on the menu for today). After that I put her back to bed with my laptop and her "My Best Friend's Wedding" DVD. She's been fast asleep since about 9PM, poor little sausage.

If she has another bad night and feels worse again in the morning, I'll try to work from home and take her to the surgery.

A woman at work (who's also pregnant) and various other people we know have been ill over the weekend with very similar symptoms, so it looks like something that's doing the rounds. I hope none of you catch it as it looks pretty unpleasant!

I binned DD1's cot and MB mattresses and bought new ones for DD2 from babiesrus.

Re GP visits etc., I went to ours a few weeks after I was sure I was pregnant,as I know they still do pg tests - free & I'm too tight to pay for one! She asked if I was & I said think so, no I hadn't done a test for reason stated above & she laughed! Only in 5 mins, but I was a good little money saver as I wasn't desperate to know very early on.
Went for 1st scan just before Christmas, knew roughly how far on I was, & then got a surprise when radiographer said I was another 5 weeks on - all of a sudden we're 16 wks or so! 2nd scan last Fri, 22+1 today, could actually see it was a boy, all little bits there (IYKWIM!) & highly visible, so bean posed well for the nice lady!!
Hope everyone's doing as well as can be expected & those with ailments - please get well soon!

Well, had a 37 week scan and registrar appointment again today. Great. baby is getting too big (expected to be a minimum of 10lb 5oz (!) and they are concerned that she may injure herself on the way out (get stuck and dislocate a shoulder for example).

So I have to go back in 2 weeks and they are going to do a membrane sweep (lovely!) to see if they can set things off early and naturally rather than waiting the extra week to term. They hope that baby will be marginally smaller the week before term!

Ah well! Just as well I now have everything purchased and ready to go just in case!

Hi Emma. Hope your mw appointment went well! We must be due at nearly the same time as I am just over 9wks. Had my fourth scan yesterday and it was fab. Could see lo wriggling around and a good heartbeat. That is me until 12 week scan now. See mw next week!
As for sickness have you tried cheese on toast/philadelphia. Don't know if it's just me but as long as I eat that I feel loads better. Strange eh?

Had the doc appointment and she answered all my questions, signed me up for blood tests and gave me all the paperwork (all without any proof that I am pregnant). Best thing was when I first sat down she simply said 'this is not an illness' :D. Am soo excited and horrified at the same time. Roll on the scans, I need proof!
