Emma, the friend I mentioned before (who has an MC and is now really quite pgrenant) had an early scan and came home with a little picture of a bean! She was also very nauseous (sp?) but not sick (although she puked for England with her first). She told me that actually being sick apparantly is very rare, that it's more common to just feel sick so you're unluky if you throw up! Hope that helps. As Lu T said when people try to 'help' and they're not being positive then smile and nod and ignore them!Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0

Had an ante-natal appointment today and mentioned I'd been having some pubic pain. Midwife mentioned SPD, and said keep an eye on it and go back before my next check up (in 5 weeks time) if it gets more painful. Have to rest as much as I can, and hope it settles down itself.
Heard baby's heartbeat for the first time though, so that was pleasing to hear, and my 7 year old impressed the midwife with his knowledge of developing babies and birthsHere I go again on my own....0 -
Hi
emma_b - just wanted to say that with my first had an internal scan at 8 weeks as I had fertility treatment to get pregnant and I saw an amazing little bean and heard the heartbeat - it was amazing and very reasuring.
In the first 12 weeks with both mine I was never actually sick, just felt yuk, got dizzy spells, horrendously tired and got really hungry.
Good luck - Im sure all will be fine this time.
Just wanted to say that I love this thread, I am neither TTC or pregnant, but secretly would love another!!
Good luck to you all

the EPU never mentioned an internal scan to me, i wouldnt have minded either, but it must be an ultrasound as they told me drink as much water as possible..
i sound like a right wierdo panicking so much dont i?! my friend is 12 weeks and hasnt had scan and shes not worried at all, but its her 2nd and her 1st preg was fine.. i was soo relaxed in mine i didnt even worry when i was spotting, but to be told at 15 weeks and at the scan that there was an empty sac was just awful, i was broody for ages after but then changed my mind decided it would be too hard if it happened again, focus on other things.......3 mth later im pregnant and pooing my pants!
roll on the 16th
wish id asked about internal scans, do they do them at same department as ultrasound?
thankyou soooo much for all your replies.. ive moved from the wedding thread to this one!! was getting advicefor wedding 3 mths ago !

HI
You dont sound like a wierdo panicking at all, I imagined alsorts with my first which I put down to the fact that it took 5 years and all sorts of intervention to get pregnant - the night before the scan I dreamt that all they found was a lone sperm swimmimg around my womb - thankfully that wasn't the case!! The second pregnancy was somewhat different in that it took me 3 months to actually believe I was pregnant as we had no help to conceive and it was such a shock that I was pregnant as we were not trying.
My scan was done in Spain so not sure with the internal ones here, but there it was with the same scanner machine as the normal belly one but with a probe attachment. Infact thinking about it I had an internal scan in the uk before pregnant during fertility test and it was the same machine.
Not long till the 16th, I hope the scan will give you the reasurance and you will be able to relax a bit more.
Does sound like a normal scan though as they have asked you to drink loads.

Don't remind me MMS! I'm hoping it's not even sooner - have been having what I hope are still Braxton Hicks this evening so that's why I'm around at this time of night - putting final touches to my birth plan just in case!!
Emma, I didn't change my username - this is my original username from before I worked for the site - Martin's banned me from using the other one until I'm back off mat leave
If it's any reassurance, I wasn't sick at all either, just felt a bit queazy now and then when I was cooking or in the car. Good luck with your scan.0 -
Hey Andrea,
Just wanted to say hello (feel like I know you, just 'cos you work for MSE - you're our mini celeb on this thread!) and good luck with the impending birth!
Lots of love

I have had a scan at 8 weeks and will be honest - it looks like a bean:D
But you can still fall in love with a bean;)
Although they may not be much of the baby to look at, they can still check other things - that the embryo has implanted in the uterus, thickness of the womb lining, check for any signs of bleeding, when your due date is goin to be, etc etcCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. emma_b wrote:also, might be a really dumb question, but can morning sickness be feeling really really sick but not actually been sick? i feel sicky, all day, and it comes in waves, can be perfectly fine one minute then next im rushing for th loo/door/exit to throw up, although never actually been sick.
It's not a dumb question - and the answer is yes.
It's the type of sickness I have had myself for the past 8 weeks - feeling sick constantly, gagging at the slightest thing, and when I rush to the bathroom, nothing comes out.
Sometimes I think it would be easier to just be sick properly, and get it over with...:rolleyes:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. You are usually called in for an ultrasound first, therefore lots of water required.
Only if they can't see what they are looking for will you get an internal - for which the bladder needs to be empty. (Yep, just as you'd finished filling it lol)
The internal will be done in the same room as the ultrasound - the machine is connected to the same computer.
Good luck for the 16th:DCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
