  • Heh heh, how did you bribe the kittens to do that EE??:rotfl:

My DS1 (13) is exactly the same. The pile of clothes on his floor can sometimes look like Everest. He can wear things for short periods and then they go on the floor and eventually into the laundry box , at which point they ARE dirty because they’ve laid on the floor for a week or more. I gutted his room while he was away at the end of September, and it’s a hovel again. I get sick of my own voice complaining at him, so gawd knows why he doesn’t just do it!!! Xx

  • My DS isn't as bad as DD, her room is just awful, piles of clothes, make up, cups, school books everywhere. Maybe whilst i'm off work I should secretly try and remove a couple of items a day and see if she notices things being binned/£bayed.

Its the smell in DS room, what is it with teenage boys and that smell, it doesn't make any difference changing bedding, opening windows etc, there is always a lingering smell of sweat and lynx. blaaaah.

Abandon all hope - my DD is 30  and still has a messy room.

Because of the crockery/cutlery issue, when I got some new ones I allocated the old ones to her. She knows she's not allowed to go within a 10 mile radius of our stuff. She's even been allocated her own cupboard of old non matching pots/mugs/glasses :rotfl:

  • Evening Diary,

Well guys you have really made me laugh with the tales of kids bedrooms :rotfl:... note to self must get a kitten :rotfl:
I don't let them take food into their rooms but I bet this will change as they get a bit older.

So far weve got a pair of DD1s pjs confiscated and 2 of DD2s school cardigans!!! As much as their bedrooms annoy me I can shut the door on there. Its when it spills out to the bathroom, landing, kitchen, hallway I get annoyed as the whole house is a mess then. Anyway it seems to have done the trick... for now!!!

So I've just done my meter readings and I've used the same in 3 weeks as I use in a month . I refuse to freeze though so will suck it up!

A couple of spend days with shopping and petrol yesterday and then non uniform today.

We have another busy weekend with football and dancing so looks like I will be catching up feeling shattered next week!!

    Happy weekend all anyway xx

  • I make them do a ten minute pick up of 'toys' outside their bedrooms or I bin it. Clothes I throw in the door, preferably with something heavy in the middle.

The tricky bit with the kittens is training them to only wee on other peoples things...
  • Afternoon Diary,

Cant believe its nearly Saturday tea time already . Not been particularly busy today but don't where the time has gone.
DD2 and I went to a town about 25 mins away to pick up an order of some dancing supplies we need for tomorrow. Traffic was horrendous there and back. Took DH's lease car as its going back on Monday and had petrol to use up :money:! Means my car has had a break today!

Only spends were 60p on the car park so a very LSD.

In other news I have caught up on my ironing and have some veg and stock in the slow cooker to make soup for next weeks lunches.

DH is off out to take DD1 to her friends sleepover shortly. We had a real battle getting her to sort her bedroom and she's finally finished it today. It took her over 3 hours . We could have had the whole house clean top to bottom in that time!
Ive also made them do extra chores to get their confiscated items back. This worked a treat and I think they're learning already. We will continue to do this as it also helps up out too.

Tomorrow we have another competition, will be up around 6am

So looking forward to my tea tonight. Were having griddled bbq chicken burgers on brioche buns with hm chips and onion rings... yum!

    Hope all ok xx

  • I have a son at Uni so his room is tidy at the moment :rotfl:

DD's is in a right mess and we now only have 3 cups in the kitchen, the rest are in her room, I have asked her to bring them down and she hasn't yet. Plates and bowls can be lost for days and generally aren't brought down until I threaten to serve her tea up on a tray with no plate:rotfl:

I put all my kids washing away otherwise it makes its way back on to the floor and then in to the wash bin, in the past when this happened I would literally sift through everything and check if it really was dirty and only wash what was dirty (obviously I don't check pants and socks:eek:).
It doesn't happen so much now as we have 4 kittens and for some reason they like to wee on my daughters clothes which she leaves on the floor even though we have 3 litter trays around the house. DD is fed up of this so her floor looks much better, just a shame they don't wee in the cups which are in her room:rotfl:

Sorry forgot to mention ages - DD is 14 and DS 20 so I have to agree that it does not get better:mad:

We have the same DC :rotfl: and mine are 20, 22 and 24 .

I've given up on the rooms of my DC, as long as the mess doesn't start to take over the rest of the house .
