Bloody charmin, that's all I can say!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I must say though, without being critical some people gave some right old dodgy advice - I mean at pensionable age reading about getting a new job in supermarkets, lodgers, cutting out sky etc - come on, you'd never clear £150k if you earned £50k a year - let alone a supermarket wage!!
I shudder to think where you'd be right now if you'd not considered going unenforceable - I really do! Although some people give great advice, they all seemed to miss one little fact - your age vs your debts!
Anyway, i'll shurrup now but just thought i'd comment on how much you've grown (in both confidence and yourself) since your original 30 posts; to date :T
Thanks Niddy,
Sorry I did not take the hint and visit your thread/contact you earlier than I did! I honestly think that, until I actually left work, I was in total denial. And I have no idea how I would have coped - you will see that my original plan (which went pear shaped just under a year ago!) was to sell my house and move away with my partner when I retired. But it was the relationship which went pear-shaped! I realise now I should have done something then about trying to get some sort of arrangement sorted out. Don't think I would have been allowed to continue in my existing job, though - I had reached my "sell-by date". So, my age is against me!
And you are quite right about the advice not taking my age into consideration - I particularly liked the one about cancelling Sky - I don't even have Sky. I am not a great telly watcher and Freeview does me fine!
As to what I would have done, I suspect I would have had to sell the house and probably go bankrupt - unless the CC people would have accepted lower payments. Which is quite a joke, really!
And the only reason my confidence has grown is entirely down to you and the advice and support given.

This reminds me of a letter I received from one of my creditors when I offered token payments. It went along the lines of "if you pay £X per month we calculate that it will take 302 years to pay of what you owe. However, if you pay 5times £X per month, you can pay off what you owe in 60 years."
I'm in my 50s so what the h*ll does it matter!!:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Just a little postscript in my defence, Niddy!
At the time I started this thread I didn't know what unenforceability was - so when the original advice came (and 3Dogs has to take the glory for that suggestion!) it really didn't mean anything at all to me! Plus, as a newcomer to the forum, I didn't have a clue how to go about getting the help I needed!
But, I have come a long way now - as you say!"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -
Hello, what a busy day. I have had Jinny's funny football joke sent to me by text but i dont know any man people (other than one who is on hols) to send it too. Hey Nid, i am the prat (is anyone surprised????) that suggested Ann got a part time job in a diy shop way back long ago. But that was 'cos i was trying to be helpful. Remember i am the idiot that thougt Poor Fitz (nice name) was a serial killer when all he did was tell a joke that i did not understand. Sorry once again!!!!
Well done on your gardening Ann. Take it easy if your back hurts. I am going to be healthy today and eat fruit and veg etc. Oh it is so good to be back home again. Had a strange day at work. Glad to have escaped.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
Clicked on to debt free diaries by mistake and there's a sticky on there which says to start a new thread when you reach 4500-500 posts, sso the servers aren't overloaded. Ann's thread is almost there now.:eek:0
