Old bean. It is ok. It didnt offend anyone. It was a bit scary to me. Do you know those scream films? When the characters are not what they seem? But i am scared of anything. I understand knock knock jokes and that's about it. But dont let that put you off posting or anything. I am truly bonkers and people put up with my posts. It is quite a big deal if the Nid says you are fine then you are.

Then he said "Humpty Dumpty, when he fell off the wall". It's better when spoken and was funny at the time. sorry if the joke offended anyone!
Fitz, as someone else who is Irish, we have a different warped sense of humour so I fell in with Humpty straight away
Hope everyone is having a good day. And please, noooooo football, we are not playing so I am not interested in any other games!A smile costs little but creates much0 -

The way refunds work with all products is that they must refund to the original card or method of payment at the time the policy was paid for. So lets assume that you paid with Direct Debit, they refund to your bank, if you pay using debit card, they refund to the same debit card and if you pay using your M&S card they will refund to your M&S card.
No laws that make them refund by cheque i'm afraid..... however you should refuse this (blag it) and tell them that you want the funds refunded to you, because you no longer use the payment card that was used at the time you took out the policy - they may well do it, even try ringing them and asking.
Best of luck - a hollow victory is still a victory, of sorts!
Thanks Niddy,
I had already had the idea (honestly!) of saying that I no longer "use" the card - not a lie at all! If I make the letter sufficiently grovelling (don't think I can face a phone call!) I may ask if the amount can be deducted from next year's premium - which is due in about a month's time. However, if they have refunded the card already I suspect that there is no way the card section will give the money back!
Also, your comments tend to confirm my suspicion (paranoia?) that the insurance people are aware of the situation with my card, and that they are merey moving their money around the organisation!
But, as you say, the letter did the trick - even if I never see a penny of it!"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -
Morning all,
Another grey day but am off to do some more work in the garden.
The fence bloke has not turned up yet - think he is arriving next week - but am still working at making things as easy as possible for him - in other words, getting rid of all my junk so that his access is easier (and, hopefully, cheaper in that he won't spend so long in cutting stuff down!) And, yes, my garden is VERY overgrown - not with weeds, just with shrubs which have just got too big!
Fitzer and gettingtherequickly - my father was Irish (from Cork), so I do have a real soft spot for the Irish!"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -
Remember when i graduated and i walked into a glass door? Chris (my best male friend from university) was Irish and he was lovely. He looked like a bear but he was always nice to me. We need funny people so keep posting.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

Hi Pocketshell,
Glad that you "popped in"!
Now you have taken the first step - and I realise only too well how hard that is! - things will gradually improve! Naturally, there will be days when you feel down but you will find the people on here totally supportive and non-judgmental so keep posting and joining in! And I know we get very silly on occasions (well, probably more frequently than that, to be honest!) but it is one of our many coping mechanisms.
And - best of luck!"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -

No can do right now i'm afraid.....
I'm sticking to the plan Niddy!!
I'd no intention of sending the "harrassment by telephone" letter. The calls don't annoy me (just had another call while I'm typing this) and it goes on to the answerphone after 2 rings. The calls to my mobile are a it more annoying but if it's a number I don't recognise or a witheld number I don't answer it. No problem0
