You don't need to feel like a prisoner mouseann.
Feel free to answer all the calls. If they want you to confirm your date of birth or some personal details as a securety check that you are the person they think, tell them you don't give out that information over the phone.
Have you sent out any letters to stop the calls yet, or are you going to leave that for a bit? After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Hi mouseann
If you think you can afford it then investigate a Truecall machine to block the calls. Thanks for all the helpful advice - as always,
I would rather not speak to these people at all but was wondering if, in order to send the"stop harrassing" letter I need to at least speak to them in the first place? The calls only started yesterday and I am coping at the moment - by mainly by irnoring them and going out for walks as well (good for the weight - and free!)"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Hi George
I suggested to Ann that she wait until the CCA Req's are delivered before sending harassment letters based on the fact when they get the CCA, the calls will stop for at least 28 days (as it is in dispute)....
We need to wait at least 2 weeks before sending the letters regards to phone calls, and then it'll be one letter to each lender as a precaution.....:D
Ann, just bear with it - you knew this would happen, stay strong - fail security! When you answer and they ask for you, just say "Yes" they will then try security at which point you say "sorry, I don't know who you are and do not give this info out" - then hang up. That's all you need to do.
Or put the phone on silent mode, when you have guests.2010 - year of the troll

Ann,
Do not send the telephone letter yet! See my last post..... just sit tight for a couple of weeks - you have to allow the 12+2 days first as right now they have every right to ring you up to 8 times a day! That is usually referred as being "aggressive collection activity".
Once you send the letter off, they can only commence "reasonable collection activity" which means 2-3 calls a day at most.
Just sit tight, let us know when the 14 days are up2010 - year of the troll

Thanks for all the advice re phone calls.
I am keeping an account of all the numbers and the dates and times - but not picking up the phone to them!
Have just found my phone instructions so that I know how to mute it now - usefl advice for when I have visitors!
I am learning - thought they might have received the CCA letters and that it was the letters which had prompted the phone calls.
I am gradually getting stronger every day - mainly thanks to all the help and support from this forum.
One final question, please, NID (if I can call you that!) - does the 8 calls a day mean 8 answered calls or 8 attempts, i.e. do the times I don't answer count?
Thanks yet again to all."What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -

Ann, Hello poppet, can you stay over at a friends, keep walking, or put the phone on silent?
I always get phonecalls when i am stressed or ill and i ignore them and that is just family.
It is only for two weeks and then they will be much better and the letters should sort most of it out.
Keep posting. I will go back to work next week but am happy to hear from you.
big hugs, well done on being so brave,
