    Hello all,

Just to report that I have finally managed to get the printer/scanner connected. Only using a USB cable, but it works.

Thanks again everyone for the words of support.

Also, I meant to say earlier, a few of you have mentioned that I may be able to give advice to others! I realise that I have been slightly self-centred in only speaking about my own situation and that there are many more who have far worse problems. I do try to look at other posts but obviously don't read all of them! So, if any of you come across a post to which you think I may be able to offer advice I would be grateful if you could let me know.

My biggest advice would be - don't bury your head in the sand, don't ignore situations as they get worse, and do something sooner rather than later! If only!

I did warn you about needing a computing degree!!!!! Good to see you are making progress, its amazing how quickly the penny drops when you have your LBM, I definitely got a bit of missionary zeal to tell the youngsters on here to do something now, this minute before it gets too late (we're 52 and 54). We should be debt free by retirement but only just and like you, if only.................

    Thanks Pure Dead Dopey,

Didn't quite lose the will to live over the hardware, but it was close! Am still trying to get some sensible information from my ISP re the Wi-fi connection but think I will settle for the USB - at least it works with that, and after disabling my Internet connection for the best part of yesterday, I think it is called learning the hard way! A bit like my situation, really ..... (but not wallowig in self-pity!)

    Actually, Savingwannabe,

The reason I had to buy a printer because I relied on using the work one! So I needed to get grips with installing a printer very quickly!

Am doing it incrementally - but I can print and scan documents (even though I can't load paper properly through the cassette and need to load each page singly!) But it is working and I am hoping that I will gradually get to grips with the rest of it!

But it has taken nearly two days to get even this far!!!

Sound advice! I know - if only! I can't tell you how much time, energy, effort and money we put into trying to ignore it as it got worse!

    Hello everybody,

Just popped on to say "hello" to all my new-found friends - nothing to report, still waiting for replies to my requests for CCA.

The phone calls have started but I am ignoring them - thank goodness for caller i.d. and an answerphone, which allows me to speak only to those I want to!

Most seem to be using 0845 numbers rather than "number withheld" which was quite surprising.

Am now working on a "phone strategy" for when I have visitors, especially if they stay for a few days. Unplugging the phone or leaving it off the hook may be an option?

    Best wishes t all

  • Unplug the phone or switch the volume off. I would still consider anew phone number mind you might be a lot easier in the long run?

V gald you are still posting
