oh don't worry the vast majority of the people on here are fantastic and supportive. It's very easy to just live a wee bit higher than you can afford without really noticing, it kinda creeps up on you. Don't forget that the banks have to take some responsibility, our debt was really manageable until they started cutting limits and jacking interest, for no good reason, no missed payments, no late payments nothing. You will be fine.More than Two Years in

Bless you for those comments, Pure Dead Dopey,
Since last night I am very apprehensive about logging in and reading any new posts, so it was quite reassuring to read something so supportive.
Any going tobe very careful of the wording of any further postings now, though!
Ann
Do not worry about the few silly comments last night, ignore them - you'll have a much thicker skin by the time you're half way through this process - you'll see. You have to, in order to argue and fight the creditors.... but seriously, there are always the minority that judge people and they are best ignored (says me, I can't help but argue with them - sorry)...
You'll be fine, just use this thread more as an update, when you get things returned then PM me and i'll advise via PM and then you can just 'update' this thread with a summary, if that would make you feel more at ease? But whatever, don't let the petty comments get to you. Wait til you get a letter from a DCA saying "you spent it so you are responsible" and stuff like that, you cannot let these comments get to you - bottom line is the law is the law.
Just hang-on in there, you'll be fine and you already have quite a large following which is always a good thing. The fact you spent the money has nothing to do with anything, all I want to see is an original signed {compliant} agreement - if they aint got one then the lender is actually at fault, in fact they could also be reported to HMRC for failing to follow company bookkeeping procedures as all documents should be retained for a period of 6 years in the event of a HMRC inspection.
Point is, you've done nothing wrong.:D

I have noted your comments, macgirl. I can certainly confirm that, yes, I was living beyond my means for a few years but have seriously cut back on everything for the last year, to an extent that I am almost frightened to buy anything, including food! Which is all I will be buying. So, if I do manage to come out of the situation OK I have learnt my lesson and will just be so much more careful in the future!
Just checkingReally glad you are still posting and feeling positive

Dear Mouseann
I'm new around here, and have learned a lot in a very short time, and I really just wanted to send you my very best wishes for getting your problems sorted out.
I am disgusted at some of the comments on here directed at you. It is blatantly obvious that you did not go on some wild spending spree, thinking oh well, I won't have to pay it back, but rather got into one of those awful 'rob Peter to pay Paul' situations, and you are by no means alone.
I have had many sleepless nights in the past worrying about money, so I know what you must be going through, and am glad to see that NID has offered a real solution to you.
Hope you can put this behind you and enjoy your retirement. All the best!0 -
Hi Mouseann hope you are well. Please try not to feel apprehensive about posting 99.9% of people on here are on for the same reason as me and you:o and the very small minority who aren't are not worth worrying over.:)0

Hi mouseann,
Please don't ever be afraid to log on, some folks just like to upset others which is not constructive in any way. But Nid sorted 'em out...:T..Go Nid  Go Nid. Ooo , I wish I was clever.!!As quite a few other folks have said, the majority of people are just really nice folk, who have their own worries due to financial problems etc, and to be quite honest, it actually helps others to see what can be done, and the correct procedure to do it.:D
We are 58 and 60 and we have been on our DMP for over 2 years, and as Nid says, you will toughen up, you have to, but don't be disheartened when you have a down sort of day.....we all do.!!:( Just remember its not a crime to be in debt. You will get loads of support from these boards, so please keep logging in and updating us.:D
Wishing you all the best.

Hi Ann,
Just want to pass on my best wishes to you. I've read right through the thread, and it just shows you there is light at the end of the tunnel - you will get there.
I currently have a 'smallish' debt (few thousand), but these sort of threads really open your eyes up - certainly gave me a wake up call. The spending on my cards are only small purchases - but boy do they start to add up and quickly! I've got a baby on the way, so have put a stop to the spending and I'm making note of every last penny I spend now.
So just keep your chin up for us, you've nothing to be ashamed off. Hats off to Never in Doubt too - you're an angel! :A2017 - no clutter to be seen challenge: 72/2017
Weight loss the old style way challenge - 7/14lbs :j0 -
Thanks again for all the supportive comments,
It really does reinforce the feeling that everyone is basically kind and supportive, and I feel encouraged by them!
And best of luck with the new baby, horse.
And if I was younger (I wish!) I am sure I would be looking at other options. Isn't hindsight wonderful?"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -
