    Hi,
I wondered if anyone on here had started to use Approved Foods for there lunch items?

I make two lunches 5 days a week, and always get my cup a soups, cous cous, crackers, drinks, and chocolate bars, nuts and crisps from them. Its keeps everyone away from the machines and out of the bakery.

I worked it out last week, and to feed our lunches came to just 2 pounds for everything.

    Hi all

I'm on 13/18 as of today! Mostly ham, cheese and pickle sandwiches with various extras for me this week - had an opened pack of wafer thin ham that needed using up. Supplemented by the huge variety of C R A P food brought in by me and my colleagues this week....must get back to eating fruit and NOT eating rubbish!

Long weekend for me now so no more work lunches until Tuesday. I'm off to Rome with a friend so will be buying lunch every day - just not work lunches!

See y'all soon, keep up the good work everyone :-)

Had a terrible week a work, and was really tempted to go get some comfort food at lunch time. Really wanted one of those delicious noodle and dumpling soups from Itzu, but I convinced myself to stick to the rather gross tinned soup in my desk.

Did have friends around for dinner tonight though and we had some yummy food and there are lots of leftovers, hopefully which will stretch into next week!

Late joining this thread! I take packed lunch to work every day, only working Mon-Thurs all month as I'm using up my holiday entitlement having Fridays off :)

I'm on my feet at work but sit in the kitchen for half an hour at lunchtime.

Breakfast is usually porridge or toast in winter, a home-made smoothie in summer.

    I take:
    banana to have mid-morning

    For lunch:
hard boiled egg from my own hens and ducks
    yogurt
    clementine
EITHER dry muesli in a lidded tupperware bowl (to eat with the yogurt)
OR home-grown salad and cherry tomatoes with a dash of salad cream (h/b egg with the salad then, and the yogurt for pudding)

If I'd had an egg for breakfast I'd have grated cheese or maybe tuna with the salad.

    Apple or pear for mid-afternoon

And one square of Bourneville (or similar) dark chocolate, not always eaten but it helps to know it's there!

Free tea/coffee etc at work, I have coffee at 8am and 11am, then tea at 1pm and 4pm, keep a bottle of water to drink in between breaks.

A lunch delivery van comes each day and most people stack up with pasties, sandwiches or baguettes, pot noodles (YUK), crisps, cakes or flapjacks, choc bars and fizzy drinks. I did this for a while early last year. Average spend about £4/day and decided after a few weeks that it was madness spending the equivalent of my monthly electricity bill on packaged food of questionable freshness. Now I don't take money to work, it's only 5 miles from home and I'll have got diesel and done the shopping at the weekend so no need to spend anything midweek. When the clocks change I'll cycle each way, I just don't like cycling down unlit lanes in the dark.

Anyway, no-spend days every working day through March.

Some wise words there, especially about how easy it is to waste money buying easy unhealthy food rather than do a little bit of preparation the night or morning before. Thanks for sharing that twiglet

Now it's getting drier and warmer I am walking to work wherever possible, it's a couple of miles but I enjoy it and with the thought of being stuck in a stuffy office for 8 hours at least I know I'm getting some fresh air and exercise beforehand. I have a walk at lunchtime as well, just a few minutes to waken me up and again get some air.

Was off today so no need for lunch, and went to the gym so that was good. Working all weekend so will need lunch both Sat and Sun, anybody else have to work too?

Charliegirl well done for going to the gym, I've been in the garden today, the forecast is wet for the weekend.
Maysmummy I LOVE your signature advice to teenagers! Found out today that my 18 year old, who travels by train to 6th form college, buys a croissant and hot chocolate-to-go at the station, then buys something ridiculous like cheese strings, crisps and cherry coke for lunch. She pays out of her own earnings, and eats almost nothing at home. I was a fussy kid and grew out of it, but her extravagance on such rubbish horrifies me. Of course at 18 she's deaf to all advice, she knows everything, and likes reminding me that she's old enough to choose what to eat and how to spend her wages. Goodness knows how she'll manage if she goes to uni, I hoped she'd be past the picky stage by now.
  • Still doing well on this challenge have had 11/18 hm! I think if I don't have any bought lunches I will treat myself to a lunch out at the end of the month, finances permitting :)
