  • Is the glamour magazine website really slow when entering the competitions?

It's been like this for weeks and just wondering if it's the website or my computer settings.

    Thank you
  • Just a warning to anyone using RefControl

I've started using it again (it's quicker than dragging the links, I just middle click on the link instead to open in a tab next to the tab with the MSE post) and noticed that when it's turned on to 'Block' when I click thanks on here it doesn't register, because I think it requires a referrer to do that.

I've gotten around the problem by having it on the status bar (it's quite handy too because you can set it to show the referrer aswell so you can see it at a glance) and I'll turn it on (right click and tick 'Enable') when I open all the comp links (I bookmark them by ending date and do them in blocks of 30 at a time) and then turning it off again when they're all open and so on.

Hope that helps, I'd hate for people to be using it and not realising the thanks isn't registering and then in turn duplicating their entries!

I have mine set on forge which sends the root of the site you're opening as the referrer (e.g. if you open a link to www.xxx.com/competition the referrer shows as www.xxx.com) and I've never had any problems with the thanks button. I've also had less problems with forms not submitting etc because they need a referrer. :)

    Hi

How do you set it to forge? I use FF for comping and have the ref control options in my add ons but I don't know how I would action this for all pages? Does that make sense?

    Thanks

Hi, you need to click on Tools at the top of your browser, then go to 'RefControl Options'. At the bottom there is a box which says 'default for sites not listed' click edit next to it and then select forge. Hope that makes sense :)

we had no problem using the voucher had to put 25.00 deposit down but will get back. when we return the machine tommorow.
So all winners don't hesitate to use the voucher as it works wonders. Amazing.

The only problem I could foresee with using forge is that there might not be a link to the competition on the main page of the website, so they'd know you'd done something for it to put the main page as the referrer, blocking the referrer has the same effect as if you open a link from your bookmarks (as far as I can tell) so they'd probably just think you'd accessed it from your bookmarks having visited before?

I'm not really sure though! :o

uggghhh - hating the new WhatsonTV site.

    need to re-register...
Takes AGES to load each page... (or is this just me?)
and then, tries to get you to sign up for "Offers" when you enter.

Uh oh, looks like we've lost another one! :( Just had a look and it now looks like it's being run by Win 4 Now, which is on the 'Spam List'! :(

I got a voucher too, the johnston cleaners near to me closed down, but I noticed morrisons have got this on offer. Don't know if they will accept the voucher. Other half on holiday 1st week in September, so we are going to get it then...
