  • Did you know that Pork farm stuff is made at the same place as Tesco ready meals like the curry's.

Also one for you is this. For tablets, the same manufacturer makes tablets for Sanatogen, tesco, asda, morrisons, superdrug and some others aswell. The ingredients are different for the sanatogen stuff though but superdrug and asda use the same tablets i am to believe. Well i know the capsules like Cod liver oil, omega 3, etc are identical. They even use the same batch of tablets from the supplier. So the only difference is the packaging.

Did anyone notice the own brand supermarket nicotine tablets being the same size box, same tablets, well the only difference is the leaflet inside and the writing on the outside.
  • worked in a dog food factory 3 yrs ago, they make cheap (weebox) n expensive (davises) biscuits n eveything inbetween. we didnt do brands such as pedigree chum though. They use different ingredients but since this only accounts for a small portion of whats in the biscuits theres basically no difference. might as well buy the cheapest. ie the biscuits are "bulked out" with so much ash n wheat they really are pretty much the same. as for treats i used 2 make dog chews n paddywack n puffed jerky n its all exactly the same stuff, literally just different packaging, same goes 4 Chubs (sausage shaped dog meat). if people only knew wot these were made of i wouldn't feed it 2 a pig let alone my beloved family pet:eek: if u wanna know message me.

Hi just my 2nd post so hope it's ok.

Many moons ago I worked for a factory producing coleslaw (only lasted one night, it was dreadful and I've not eaten shop bought since!) for several big name shops, M & s, Sainsbury etc. I couldn't believe that a) it was identical for everyone and b) that every evening we swept any 'bits' off the floor and chucked them back in the mixing machine.
i work in a sweet factory n everything that goes on the floor gets put in sacks n sent to the local pig farm. never goes out to customers its a sackable offence
  • Netto sell these Milk Chocolate Continental Butter biscuits for 49p a pack. Morrisons, Tesco sell exactly the same ones but branded at more than double the price. I can't remember the names of the brand as I always buy the cheaper ones.
  • Having developed an allergy to most "multinationals" products soap, soap powder shower gel shampoo cleaning products etc I did a LOt of research and guess what I uncovered all of these products are made from petrochemicals, the waste from oil refining. In particular have a look at your moisturisers ,shower gels, after shave balms, shampoo everything.and you will find mineral oil or paraffinium liquidium or sodium lauryl sulphate as the main ingredient, why because this is cheaper than water there is so much of it.
These are one of the most sensitising ingredients for people with excema and why anyone would want to put paraffinium liquidim ("Baby Oil"!) on their skin or their babies is beyond me.Try using Hemp oil ,Olive oil,Rosehip Oil ( cold pressed)on your skin you will be suprised.
Same with bar soap used to use imperial leather can't now biggest ingredient in all bar soap sodium tallowate (cow, pig, goat fat you are washing yourself with lard!) a host of preservatives (to stop it going off)and parfum to mask the lovely (sic!) natural smell.
Real soap is made with olive, palm oil or other nut seed oil and has little or no preservatives.
Now I say If I cant eat it I wont use it.
Ecover make fantastic cleaning products which are all vegetable based and super biodegradable,I use their washing up liquid as shower gel with no problems.
I buy real vegetable soap from health food stores.
    Skincare from Weleda https://www.weleda.co.uk

    Estee Lauder own Mac,Clinique,Origins,Prescriptives,Aveda,Aramis,Bobby Brown
    L'Oreal own Lancome ,Helena Rubenstein,Garnier,
Yves saint Laurent own Nina Ricci,Van Cleef&Arpels and guess who owns YSL Skincare and makeup Sanofi one of the biggest oil companies.
Friend used to work for YSL+Clinique 50ml pure perfume Opium cost £120 cost to produce £5
    Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturiser £15 Water,sesame seed oil,mineral oilcolourants.Cost around 40p.
    hope this helps!

Yes, i totally agree with this - as a make up artist i know the ingredients of many products and it's absolutely shocking what people put onto themselves without even realizing the impact it has on their skin and bodies. Let alone babies skin. Deoderant is important, i will only buy aluminium-free, from larger Boots stores - most others have cancer-forming ingredients which we are not told about.
Skincare has some terrible ingredients, and this is one reason not to buy a lot of the high street brands which as you say include parabens and sodium laureth sulphate, or mineral oil. It doesn't really depend on price for this - you could be buying Boots own moisturiser, L'Oreal to Chanel, but most of them contain the same dodgy ingredients with traces of natural flower or perfume to make them smell nice. I will only choose skincare, wash or soaps which are vegetable-based or have mainly natural ingredients. Caudalie skincare is great and not too expensive - Kiehls was good, but is now owned by L'oreal, so i'm a bit wary now. Jurlique is Australian and very natural, Molton Brown is terrible for bad ingredients and brings everyone i know out in a rash. Out of high street brands, Clarins is good - but Clinique i would avoid completely! I once met an air stewardess who uses the clarifying lotion to remove her nail polish!
Anyway, hope this helps - i can get animated about products for days - sorry!
  • Apologies if this is old news or too obvious for words but let me just say:

    IBUPROFEN!!!
    IBUPROFEN!!!
    IBUPROFEN!!!
    (oh, and Paracetamol and asprin)

One of the biggest savings you can make is to stop buying Nurofen, Anadin and those other named brands. Please check out supermarket own brands and the alternative unfamous brands for these painkillers. Compare ingredients like for like, especially on Nurofen vs. Ibuprofen, and you'll be stunned that they are exactly the same, saving you about 60 - 90%!

There are three main painkillers we use over the counter; paracetamol, asprin and ibuprofen. Combinations of these are also used, and caffine is added to anything branded with Xtra, to dilate the blood vessels and speed the system up so it delivers the actual painkiller more quickly (or that's the theory). Most supermarkets do their own versions of this too.

On the combination painkillers, you can usually replicate the exact doses with cheaper versions of basic ingredients - be careful not to exceed any doses of anything though!!

i use to work for unilever in there stock ordering department and they own lots of brands including birds eye, walls, clarins, calvin klien, persil, ariel, etc but if you see masterfoods on a product they are also owned by the above. so really what i am saying is that they do make shop brands just under the guise of a sister company with cheaper components but to the same qc. also point to note there is only two manufacturers of chocolate in the uk and they supply to all manufacturers of choc based products so work that one out for yourself.

Wilkinson's Stickytack is exactly the same as Blutack. My daddy spent about half an hour explaining to me how they just change the boxes over and the mixture is the same.

Nonsense - Masterfoods (Mars, Pedigree Petfoods, Uncle Bens etc) and Unilever are 2 seperate companies. :rotfl:

I have a suspicion that Asda's own "Shandy Lager" is actually the french brand "Panache" relabelled. They taste the same - very lemony and refreshing - and the Asda one has a Panache-branded lid!

No evidence though, I'm afraid - just a suspicion.
