unilever own the companies that make knorr , olivio, flora, carte d'or ice cream, persil ,surf
proctor and gamble own pringles, sunny delight, eukanuba and iams dog food, ariel, bold, daz, dreft, fairy,
that's all I can remember at the moment,as you can see the washing powder market is pretty much sewn up!!
I remember seeing an advert on tv when I was a teen, and no one else seems to have seen it. Basically a guy walks onto thew screen offering 'Bold' to the camera and saying 'can I interest you in Bold?' A voice behind the camera reaches out a box of ariel and says 'no thanks, we use ariel'.
That was it, but I seem to have been the only person to have seen it, and yes they're both owned by unileverSwagBucks: 1070 -

No, they're both Proctor & Gamble.0 -
Dewalt power tools are made by Black and Decker.
Skil, Dremel and Rotozip are all made by Bosch.
But they are most definately not the same product. De Walt are high quality tools, which will last. Black and decker brand is much lower in the market, their tools fall apart.
Whilst on the DIY subject, B&Q own brand tile spacers are made by Plasplugs, but are significantly cheaper.0 -

I have just posted on the refferals board but thought it relevant to here as well. I am a caterer and one of my suppliers are a company called alpha foods. They tell me every week about special offers such as one off offers. And usually the food product could be from sainsburys and other well known brands. Some maybe near the sell by date or could be a production over run. So i believe that is how a lot of the pound shops get well known brands so cheap. The same will go for all the cleaning products and toiletries etc. You may notice in netto or aldi and other similar stores quite a few products have spanish or portugese writing on them. Again could be the the foreign stores have over ordered so they end up in budget stores. And a lot cheaper to boot. I can usually get elvive shampoo and conditioner at half the price in netto because of this. Even cheaper in the pound shops.Night Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

You moggy lovers treat em like babys. the eat whats given or starve.

I feed my cat the best I can afford at the time, that is - something that's going to be good for them nutrionally. I could buy some old cack from lidl, but I'm sure that if I fed my cat on something made out of 60% ash he'd suffer long term. I look after my friends, or what's the point ?0 -
Sorry - but those links aren't working correctly. I'm getting a "Not allowed to look at this" type of error.
Anyone else having problems?0 -
Here is a case where it doesnt pay to buy cheaper stuff. I tried Asda own label non bio laundry powder, which is half the price of Persil, and less than Surf and other major brands.
The own brand by Asda, leaves the laundry rough and dry, BUT worse than this, gave me an allergic skin raction, and i had to re wash everything with decent powder such as surf. So not only is it a bad finsih, it also contains allergens which the good brands do not have! Surf is often on sale at good prices in Asda, so thats what i will stick to!0 -
