  • Don't want to hijack this topic so I will only add this reply and no more on the subject. First of all I agree with you! I was actually just teasing you a little about gender ability although there is some truth in it, i.e. men cannot be mothers and vice versa. Also the tide has changed in the last thirty years or so, and women are now very sly and seek out men who will be their lapdogs and provide them with more than they actually deserve. You now see ungrateful lazy obese women, that have never done a days housework or proper cooking in their lives and are shameless about it too. They also pay for everything to be done much like your father does, so it seems things women finally have morphed into sloth-like men! Women now, particularly the younger generations just dump their children on the grandparents and !!!!!! off to work, because it beats doing the real tough housework back home. My own mother is a housewife of the 1950s vintage (she is 73) and is under no illusion which is the hardest work! Unlike todays so called housewives, she has never had the time to sit on her backside drinking wine while waiting for the junk food to heat up in the microwave etc. No she works hard from 7am to midnight and usually without any sleep hardly, and often wished she had twice the amount of hours in the day to get things done. It's a total impossibility to be at work and yet magically also be at home doing the work there, and bring up children. Any so called mother who claims otherwise is either a liar or does the housework to slack and lazy standards and never cooks freshly prepared meals, that do not involve a microwave oven! If you analyse what is happening in todays society, you will witness people leading single lives but cohabiting to afford the mortgage. They also drink too much and stupidly claim their pregnancies were 'out of the blue' or 'I suddenly found I was pregnant!'. Yeah right....:(

So yes I agree both men and women can and should look after themselves, but most people choose the lazy options every time even if they seem to be 'looking after themselves'. The days when men were men and women were women disappeared decades ago. Also throughout nature there is no such thing as equal, because the world would be in real trouble if it was!

Errr... I think your mother maybe ruined you for the real world. Just a little. I'm not saying those women don't exist but that's certainly not the quintessential western woman.

Anyway. Aldi Oaties and McVities Hobnobs are identical (Oaties may even be a tad nicer) ! As are Kelloggs crunchy nut and ASDA's own variety.
  • Manor Bakeries make cakes for Mr Kipling, Cadburys, and also Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons. I know this as my husband is an engineer who works on the forklifts there, and sometimes buys us cheap boxes of cakes containing mr kipling slices, bakewells and fruit pies etc, cadburys mini rolls & cake bars, and own brand products. No difference as far as I'm aware.
  • I know for a fact that Aldi buy from the same suppliers as the other chains as I used to supply them all!!

Havings spoken to a number of different suppliers normally the products are the same give or take a slight change.

An example of this is one guy who sold the same ready made lunch salad to 4 supermarkets who all had the same product but varied in price. One supermarket slightly changed the recipe (to add a salad dressing) and charged about 60% more.

It does make me laugh - if people only knew that they were paying extra for packaging!!

    One last example for you:

One supermarket (who slap their bottoms!!) sell a type of cat litter for around £2.80. The same product, different packaging is available at various other outlets from £1.99 - £4.99 depending on where you go. The product is the same they just change the bag when its made. Same lorries deliver it, same machines make it!!

They also make for Aldi. My friend's cousin works for the company that makes the plastic trays that contain them.

Tesco normal own brand (not the value) tinned tomato soup is just as good as Heinz and literally half the price. If anything, it's a tad less sweet than the brand which is nicer imo.

Their full fat mayo isn't bad either. In a direct comparison I can tell the difference (it's not much) between it and Hellmans, but as I don't tend to eat them together it doesn't stop me buying the own brand;)

Sainsburys own brand chocolate spread is yummy, but Tescos is like clay.

Not-from-concentrate fruit juices are all much of a muchness whether they're Tropicana or own brand.

Butter needs to be decent, though not necessarily branded. I bought President unsalted and a pack of Tesco value. 50p difference between the two but I will not be trying the value again. Tesco own-brand is ok, but their finest is lovely. Ditto Sainsburys (especially the ones with salt crystals in if you want a treat). Yeo Valley is lovely too, but I can't stand the texture of Anchor even though it's ridiculously expensive. I tend to buy a mid-range one now unless the ones I prefer are on offer, then I stock up and freeze them (I bake so use a ton of butter). Still waiting for President to go back on 2 for £2...

The only things I really don't like to downgrade on are loo roll (has to be Cushelle), kithen roll (Plenty) and beans (Branston). I keep trying equivalents but I always go back to those ones.

Just wait till you taste Asda's :D
  • Sorry if this already posted - but Berocca soluble vitamin tablets in the tube are around £4.50 in Boots.
Sainsbury's , Tesco both do same tablets with EXACTLY same ingredients , but slightly different flavour for around £2. And the Bodycare chain do their's for under £2! :T:T
    :) Moxxy - girl :)
  • Anyone know who makes Next's domestic appliances pls? Interested in a fridge freezer.
  • Have you tried Bahlsen chocolate half coated butter biscuits. Now try Lidl's Sondkey, same product at half the price, and I swear they're nicer!
