  • i know that cooperative make frozen peas for birds eye, and there own brand potatos from there farms if rejected by them go to morrisons, sainsburys then tesco thats why tesco have green potatos, as coop have high standards for there own labeled products. and the new simply value range is a mix of coop and somerfield.

I work at george at asda and heard from a next employee that the same factory makes both our clothing, and just changes the labels.I then started to notice similar items made with different fabrics, and of course next is twice the price. So I would say its probably true.

It would make sense, the guy who used to be the CEO at Next, moved to George at Asda not so long ago. If he had suppliers that were trusted, then I would imagine that he would use those contracts to produce similar, cheaper products.

Does anyone know who else stocks the same breaded chicken breasts as M&S? They are fresh, and about £9 - 12 a bag.

My brother in law won't eat anything else!

St Ivel used to make Yoghurts for most of the supermarkets. Exactly the same mix as their own brand - except the pots were smaller !

Aldi's fondant fancies are made by Mr Kipling.

I think you are wrong in stating co-op do the peas for Birds eye, as for one of my summer jobs I worked for a company called Salverson food services & the peas would come in from the field and whilst they were going through the line a grading process would take place & the highest grade went to Birds Eye & sainsburys, then asda & co-op then morrisons & tesco & then the value ranges. But there were often top quality peas graded as value because they had just gone over Birds Eye 3 hours from pick to frozen, this might only by a few minutes.

This can only be used for a "point of interest" thing, because we're talking about different specs and possibly quality control.

But, if you're buying and paying a premium for a Canon digital camera, you may be interested you're actually in all likelihood buying a Samsung.
Canon don't make their own cheaper cameras anymore - only the high end digital SLR's. The other cameras are made by Samsung, but unlike Samsung, the sensors in these cameras are usually made by Toshiba.

Nothing necessarily wrong with this, Samsung aren't Alba or Bush, they're a damn good company and possibly one of the most improving electrical companies out there. Their higher end cameras too knock the stuffing out of the competitors, it's just their lower end stuff often seen for sale in Asda which are a bit lacking (And I've heard a rumour from a camera rep that they're thinking seriously of pulling out of the budget camera market and concentrating on the flagship cameras at the higher end).

But like I said - it's only a point of interest, as it's a different spec, and a Canon mid price brand will still outperform many others - including actual Samsungs.

This is what I've been told by someone pretty high up in a specialist camera retailing business anyway - so I might be wrong :rotfl:
  • I once bought a tin of broad beans from asda, and when taking the label off found a tescos label underneath....

Can you prove this, or are you just basing it on the fact that they are quite similar? Similaity is far from evidence.
