DeWalt is a product line created by Black & Decker in 1992. The Dewalt professional range is a more robust tool in my opinion having used both and dropped both from a great height. The ones I have left that have stood the test of time are all DeWalts or Metabos. It,s horses for courses B&D range for the DIY'r, DeWalts & Metabo etc for the Pro's.
Exactly. In one of my previous jobs I had to hire or buy tools for branches aruund the UK and they all rated Dewalt as the best and sturdiest.:T

dewalt were in existence in the 1980's, and had a very good reputation then. Perhaps Black and Decker bought them out in 1992?
  • Not sure if this has been mentioned already

Now i cant say for sure but was round a friends house the other day and i ran out of baby wipes, all she had was a pack of asda smart price baby wipes which she hadnt tried yet.

I opened them and tbh i was amazed i expected them to be the thin type that tear easily, they werent they were thick wipes, well moistened. They were brilliant i honestly couldnt tell the difference between them and pampers wipes :T:T:T:T

Asda smart price wipes cost around 50p a pack and Pampers wipes cost around £2.29 a pack i know which ones i will be using from now on :j

I bought a Ferguson cd/radio/DAB player a few years ago. Found out its Currys or Comets own crap brand inside. They bought the name. I bought it as had a Ferguson years and years ago and was great. This has been a load of rubbish from the start and was really dissapointed with the product, that's when started looking around and found out that its not TRUE Ferguson. Why do we all put up with the companies doing this.
Think twice before buying Ferguson .................IMHO

according to wikipedia, ferguson was sold to thomson in the late 90's and it was then licensed initially to DSI (Dixons and Currys). DSI ceased using it in 2006 and competitor Comet took up the licence. linky

It's the same for virtually all the respected names we grew up with. Look at Philips etc. My first set of expensive/decent speakers were Wharfedale - now the name is a just a badge Argos put on the cheapest of plastic tat. :(
  • wharfdale and pacific and durabrand and all thoise names are assosiated with cheap rubbish

the yesco value jaffa cakes are very much like mcvities
  • Just goes to show how huge this site is; I only just discovered this thread. Brilliant.

Anyhow: Outboard motors - Selva is a (to my knowledge) spanish assembled Yamaha. Lift the motor cover and all the parts are labelled Yamaha.
