Hi,
My Dad used to work for Lyons (coffee instant + ground + swiss rolls + ready Brek are all made in the same place!!!!!
M+S has the cream of the crop and then they go down the list.Same jars different labels and packaging0 -
Hi,
Same with P+Harvey biscuits.Chocolate covered biscuits in tins
M+S first then others.
M+S are always foil wrapped thus costing more .0 -
An uncle of mine worked at Wall's sausage factory in Southall many years ago.
M + S believe it or not had Wall's make with an added ingredient.
An aunt worked for Birds Eye - Yes you guessed it M+S reigned supreme again.
We never went hungry.0 -
My wife has a liking for Kellogs 'Special K'
Probably just because they are the most expensive.
Now, does anyone know of similar cereal that is like 'Special K' ?
Thanks0 -

Tesco regular vodka =37.5%, Absolut is 40% and you can def tell the difference0 -
Jacobs Fig Rolls - does anyone else have them under their own brand. They seem to be getting very expensive and everyone's packaging looks very similar to Jacobs, but are they the real thing?0

Great thread everyone, thanks for the tips!
We decided to give Aldi a try a couple of months ago. Not all, but most of their stuff is great.
We regularly stock up on:
baked beans - big juicy beans & lovely thick sauce.
Tinned sweetcorn - in water, no salt or sugar - lovely sized kernals
Tinned kidney beans- in water, no salt or sugar - again lovely big beans
Tinned tomatoes - lovely flavour & thick juice. No added junk again.
Tinned mushy peas - Really good, not too mushy and actually taste of peas!!
Bleach - great, thick, good job.
All much better quality than Tesco / Morrisons own brands and a fraction of the price.
Lots of other things too but can't think at the mo. We don't buy everything there (eg loo rolls not much cop lol) but we save loads on the basic store cupboard goods.SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65
SPC 9 (2016) #485 TOTAL £84
SPC 10 (2017) # 485 TOTAL: £464.80

Looking for alternatives to: Baileys, Fosters, Bulmers and Malibu if anyone has any?0

I used ot work for British Bakeries and at the time of leaving they made all the Tesco bread, M+S, Hovis, Motherspride and Nimble.
Sometimes when we made too much Hovis, which happened alot (pre empting orders) this used to get stuffed into Tesco Value bags! Bargain if only you knew when that was.
M+S had recipie changes including more salt and sugar (for taste) and more preservatives including vinegar!0 -

Sainsburys sell O'Gradys (about £3.50 I think), which is similar to Baileys.
Asda also have a version, but I can't remember what it is called - it's a similar price though.
I wouldn't recommend the Baileys style drink from Morrisons or Aldi - not the same at all.
Asda and Sainsburys also sell their own brand cider, which is the same size as Bulmers' bottles. It's fine when it's extra cold and only around £1 a bottle.Looking forward to the future.0
