  • I tried the Tesco "value" washing liquid and fabric conditioner expecting to brake out in an itchy rash but surprise, surprise, found it to be of good quality that also left the clothes smelling nice and fresh, at a fraction of the cost of the others it's highly recommended :j

Their Galahad Lager is brewed in the Netherlands, by "United Dutch Breweries" in Breda, NL, known for Oranjeboom and Breda Lager, now part of InBev. Several field agents have died for this piece of information, but four years of intelligence have finally born fruit.

Aldi's bleach is from Jeyes, Thetford, Norfolk (the ones who make that fluid of the same name).

I bought Tesco's baked beans the other week and I must admit to feeling very wary but only because of the packaging!! I thought there would be something hideously wrong!

I found them nice to be honest. They dont taste the same as Heinz ones but they are still tasty. The Tesco own brand are nice as well but I might as well buy Value if I like it!

Also bought Tesco's value tomato ketchup. DH didnt like it but I loved it. It was a lot tangier and "sharper" than Heinz - reminded me of "Daddy's tomato ketchup" which is why I liked it. Maybe I should rinse out my Heinz squeezy bottle after we're done with it and buy some value tomato ketchup to pour into it lol

Thanks S I'd long wondered who brewed it. According to Wiki the Breda brewery was shut and shifted to Dommelsche Bierbrouwerij is a brewery in Dommelen - although this is not clear if you look through the United Dutch website http://www.udbexport.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

As you know Aldi sell 500ml bottles of Breda lager
  • my son worked for a well known crisp factory he said the crisps came down the belt and went int there bags and into smart price bags this has also happend when he packed weatabix
  • Thanks, stamford.

From what I dig out, Dommelsch was acquired by Artois (predecessor of Interbrew, the predecessor of InBev) in 1968. Strangely enough, Breda Royal Lager was brewed on Guernsey alone for a while, with some of it spilling over into Mainland Britain.

Well we're using Sainsbury's Weetabix at the moment and can't tell the difference. But I tried their Basics Weetabix and couldn't finish them - they were horrid

There was a food recall in the papers last week for spicy vegetarian burgers.

The factory which made them was Dalepak, and they were recalling the brands Dalepak, Grassington amd Tesco Mexican burgers, so suppose this means Dalepak make burgers for Tesco.

Don't usually shop in Tesco, but happened to be near a large store a couple weeks ago. They have a cheap products aisle. I saw a box of 160 tea bags of noname make for about if I remember correctly. They were packed in metallicised plastic dividing the contents into 40/pack. We usually have Twinnings tea bags which are about £1.99 for 50 or £3.39 for 100. And not sealed! Against my wife's wishes I got some of this el cheapo tea. It was absolutely fine - well worth it - no taint or anything. Even she concedes now it is OK.

(edited 12/10/08 - tea is called Packer's Best and was/is £1.69 so even better value!)
