This is def true.My mum-in-law is an experienced pharmacy assistant as always buys 'generic' or own brand medicines/creams etc. Always ask if there is a generic version. Children's medicines are awful-Calpol being so expensive when it is just paracetamol suspension-buy generic and save a fortune. Poor parents are often sucked in by brands they 'trust' for their children (i was one of them!) but often the ingredients are exactly the same. Ask your pharmacist and i'm sure they will identify the product you need.[/quote]
Dad is a pharmacist, he tells us yes buy the unbranded generic UK made medicines but be really careful with grey imports since certain other countries manufacture controls are not as stringent (and yes some are more stringent)!0 -
What about tyres? Obviously we don't want to compromise on safety at all, but are the cheaper, less well-known tyres as good as the named brands? Is there anyone on here involved with fitting or selling tyres that could offer some advice?:hello:  please play nicely children !0

I got four good quality hardly used tyres on their rims out of the paper for £50.0

Hubby wouldn't buy tyres second hand, and anyway we need to get it sorted out quickly!:hello:  please play nicely children !0

Right i had a quick look sorry if its been posted but there was so much to read....
TESCO PRO V shampoos and conditioners... about 53p a bottle,
PANTENE PRO V shampoos and conditioners...about £2.50-£3 a bottle,
The difference? I'd say the price and packaging... I bought this one day when i didn't have enough cash on me and I still use it now!
If its not pantene in tesco guise then tesco have done a cracking job getting it as close to as my hair is to my head!!!
Defo worth a try!I'm an MSE SLACKER!!!! Slap my bum.

Sorry, but this is incorrect - Chanel/Bourgeois are not cruelty free. Clarins and Marks and Spencer are though.
Not true...
"Are CHANEL products tested on animals ?
CHANEL shares the legitimate concern of its customers in terms of nature protection. The Brand does not test on animals. "

Bourjois...
"Are your products tested on animals?
No, our products are not tested on animals."

Also whilst reading up on animal testing (as I refused to believe that my entire makeup bag was cruel) I came across this article...

is there a list of which products are branded and which aren't as 58 pages is a lot to read through?Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card
Rehome an unwanted prize or gift with a seriously ill child through Postpals.co.uk0 -
Apparently Bourjois make up is made by Chanel (and is a lot cheaper) and I have been reliably informed that Clinique used to supply the skin care range for M&S - don't know whether they still do.
I recently bought a Sharp combi oven and was told in the shop that Panasonic make all the components, but the Panasonic combi is much more expensive.
I am terribly impressed with Asda's Xtra Special range having bought loads of stuff from them for Christmas - they must be made by someone good - any ideas?
I did work experience at a fashion magazine and the beauty staff told me the same thing about Chanel making Bourjois, or at least it being made in the same factory or something.0 -

Yes, you're right there. Own brand is a lot cheaper but for the same thing. I use Boots own brand, and Superdrug, and they work just the same as Panadol.0 -
The other day my boyf had man flu (actually it was a mild, very very mild, sore throat:rolleyes:) and whilst in Sainsburys he picked up some Lemsip Max day & night capsules £3.70, I noticed the Sainsburys version, £1.99 on the shelf underneath so I read the ingredients- exactly the same, each and every mg.0
