......I was told when I deferred my pension, that the annual increases on the BSP would include the deferred amount, so am a bit miffed that this hasn't happened with this increase......
Oh Jennifer Jane - how could you complain so? You should have realised that this is Zygurat's specialist area of expertise.
......Will you be buying second home in France
Only if it's in the champagne district.0 -
......I'm sure anyone with a name like Jennifer Jane would be able to cghat up a taxi co......
I think Zygurat lives in a parallel universe where pensioners flash a bit of thigh at taxi companies, who then rush around, begging for our customs at half-price.0 -

And the annual increase of £2.40 on the BSP did include the increase on the deferred amount. I'm in this too I'm not getting at anyone I just don't see anything to moan about. The only thing that is constant is change.0 -

What is BSP? But in the meantime, I quote from Paul Lewis of the BBC's money box programme (it's radio 4 so it must be right)
"Radio 4's Money Box presenter Paul Lewis explains how the rise in the state pension does not apply to the whole sum.
In December, the Chancellor said the "basic state pension" would increase by 2.5% in April.
But this pledge did not apply to other parts of the state pension - such as SERPS and graduated pension.
Nor did it apply to the extra amount earned by people who do not claim their pension when they reach 60 or 65. "
Ha I now see what BSP is - basic state pension. well, it doesn't seem to include deferred pensions for the increase.
By the way, when you say you're an 'over 60s taxis driver' do you mean you're over 60, or that your passengers are? Not taking the p. really would like to know.0 -

Wrong! This is the breakdown of the increase:
Basic State Pension £60.54
Post 97 Additional State Pension £7.50
Extra - Basic State Pension (this is the deferred bit) £15.59
Something extra to do with the deferral £1.98
Graduated Retirement benefit £1.02
Total (this is the breakdown per the Pensions letter) £86.63
Previous:
Basic State Pension £59.06
Post 97 Additional State Pension £7.50
Extra - Basic State Pension (this is the deferred bit) £15.59
Something extra to do with the deferral £1.98
Graduated Retirement benefit £1.02
Total £85.15
So: the first line item only is the increase of 2.5%
Total increase in my pension is 1.7%.

PS - Jennifer Jane is not my real name, and er, a flash of my cellulite/thunder thighs would have any self-respecting taxi driver rushing off.
Also, thinking about taxi services, whilst I can manage it, I will be keeping my car, otherwise my life would be totally restricted to my small market town, that has little in the way of theatre/restaurants etc and no cinema. 18 miles to the nearest town with these amenities (and friends), so a very expensive taxi cost - and as previously mentioned, I can walk into my own little town for shopping/library/swimming. With no car, your life can get very restricted, and that's no way to live.0
