Glad you found a pool though with free swimming. It's a brilliant thing which I hope the new Govt retains!
Thank you, J_J. Yes, I am pleased about the free swimming initiative, a lot more pleased than I was about free bus passes. The nearest swimming pool to us, in our LA area, has been privatised and is VirginActive.
Well, I went for swimming lesson last evening, 8.30 - 9.30 pm. Swimming and lessons are completely free. No questions asked, no need to prove age or the fact that we don't live in that LA area.
There is a teaching pool which is shallow and that can be used by anybody according to different times. The VirginActive pool is (a) unreachable by public transport and (b) the shallow pool is only for babies, mums and toddlers etc, so for any lessons you have to go into the main pool. I think it's a brilliant idea for learners of all ages to have a shallower pool, and the real swimmers can use the other one. I'd never seen 2 pools like that before. Was very impressed. The backs of my legs are hurting this morning from all that kicking but I pushed myself to go to the chair-based keep-fit at the retirement complex. I need to keep my leg muscles strong because I'm probably looking at another revision of hip replacement within the not too distant future. This replacement has lasted since October 1987 so it has done pretty well. So I'll be back to square one, needing help getting in and out of bed etc.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0
