    Hi William,

I am so happy to hear how positive your day has been and that you have a week off to spend time with your family and achieve various things.

    Today is a New Day

Your tomorrows are as bright as you want to make them. There is no reason to carry the darkness of the past with you into today. Today is a wonderful new experience, full of every possibility to make your life exactly what you want it to be. Today is the beginning of new happiness, new directions, and new relationships. Today is the day to remind yourself that you possess the power and the strength you need to bring contentment, love and joy into your life. Today is the day to be understanding to yourself and to give yourself the love and patience that you need. Today is the day to move forward towards your bright tomorrow

    Hi William

Great to read such a positive post - I know you don't know me (not even virtually) but as I said before, your thread really struck a chord with me so I'm so pleased to see you working so hard to get on track and keep going.

You're on the way to being a great success story for MSE through sheer willpower and determination. WELL DONE!!

If I could have half the drive you have I would be fine! (instead I am posting when I should be working (woops);)

I am just about to go swimming. The kids have lessons at 5:30, so will the use the 30 minute lesson to swim myself and have them in the pool for anotherf 30 minutes to woek on the stuff they do in the lesson.

Was a better day at work. I still have moments where I inwardly shiver but that is to be expected and just try to concentrate on the job. My concentration has soomewhat improved (I am glad I am working nights).

Have had very little time to do any research at work, but that will sorted in the next few days.

In all this I nearly (very nearly) missed a payment on one of the cards, but was checking my emails and realised I have deleted the on line bill.

    More later I hope.

Good to hear from you William. Dont burn yourself out Our William ok? I am a bit worried (so what's new ???) are you well enough to work on research? shouldn't you be resting a bit more? swimming is good though. I thought you were supposed to do restful things to get your confidence back. If you can work on future plans that is fantastic though.

Have a good swim and a peaceful evening too.

Hi Will, I am back home and have seen your news. You are on the mend but there are different theories about how 'the mend' works. One is as SW is saying - rest, give yourself time. I have been reading (and my experience as well) is that not doing much makes your midn turn agaist itself - doubt and destruction creep in. So 'the mend' is much accelerated by doing...

Experiment and you will see what works for you. Keep strong, mate and all will be well.

The last two days have past without any real consequence. I have worked, slept, ate and tried to just go with it. Today I slept little and then took the kids swimming.

I also listened to some music. Its seems ironic that the stereo was loaded with pink floyd - and the random play chose Comfortably numb to play as I sat in the dark with an open fire roaring. The words seems so apt.

    Hello?
    Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
    Is there anyone at home?
    Come on, now,
    I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain
And get you on your feet again.
    Relax.
    I need some information first.
    Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
    When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am.
    I have become comfortably numb.

    (solo)

    I have become comfortably numb.

    O. K.
    Just a little pin !!!!!.
    There'll be no more AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
But you may feel a little sick.
    Can you stand up?
I do believe its working. Good.
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
    When I was a child
    I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
    The child is grown,
    The dream is gone.
    I have become comfortably numb.

Tomorrow I will dig the veg beds over, and feed them. Then go for a 5 mile walk.

Today was a beautifully sunny day. I slept way too late, and woke up with a head ache. I was determined to get on with things. A cup of coffee and an earbashing from the wife for sleeping away most of the morning later, I was in the garden digging over the seed beds, weeding and listening to my mp4 player, engrossed in what I was doing. I have a very eclectic musical taste. Everything from Mozart to motorhead and anything in between. The concentration was broken by two things:
    1. A track by the stranglers called "Golden Brown" playing in my ears caused me to stop and draw breath.
    2. My phone buzzed in my pocket.

The track took be back to my mispend youth, of alcohol, spliffs and late nights listening to music.
The phone was my hypnotherapist asking if I wanted to pop around for a chat tomorrow.

So, the beds are all neatly dug, fed and ready. The mini greenhouse is ready for the planting of the seedlings, adn suprisingly, I did do the 5 mile walk to the kids school to pick them up.

Nice long soak in the bath coming after checking my financial status.

    Sleep well people.

Hello, William. You sound so much more content now - I hope the contentment continues. Despite the lay-in (which I'm sure you needed), you have been very productive and energetic.

It's a great track, Golden Brown. Have you read Hugh Cornwell's autobiography? I read it when I went to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival a few years ago, and then I went to his one-man show where he sang and read extracts from the book. Sadly I didn't have a misspent youth, but I fully intend to grow old disgracefully to make up for it.
    "Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.
