    Hi William,

my sympathy about being tired (won't exaggerate if I say 'know exactly how you feel'). However - keep going! You can do with the money from the overtime (put some towards the stash though and some for fun; do not use all of it to cover emergence living or debt).

More importantly, keep going with the business plan - forget fear, do not worry whether you have missed something. Get it done and then start discussing with people you trust in some form. It is quite amazing if you read through the Matrix competencies what you can find there. In a word - loads! Loads of competence in different areas, experience and good will. But most importantly - do not be scared!

  • Good morning all. Good day at work. Lots done and progress made in a few areas. Won't go into too much detail about things at work but there are quite a few very unhappy people at the station/s at the moment. Not too tired (strangely) but having a beer and chilling out. Have applied for (and got a new Egg card) with 3k limit and 0% interest till april '12. Will do another Balance transfer to reduce the payments so I can clear them ASAP. Will definately use some of the overtime money for fun (but will be MSE, probably look into the Sun 9.95 holidays) and will use some for the slush fund. Will use rest to pay the road tax (keeps the wife happyish).

Have plans, am looking. Still fighting. Still clean.
  • hello all. 1st normal 8 hour shift today in 6 days (last five have all been 12 hour shifts which were all like 18 days with all the travelling, eating, etc). Slept from 2 am till 11am! Firewalker if your reading this I am not saying that to make you jealous. I think it was due to the fact that i went to bed with an empty brain, and after a cold beer.

Have adjusted the no spend days for the year, not the month.

I have been told by colleagues that they are not happy with me because of the overtime. I have tried to explain my circumstances without going to too much detail, but am hitting a wall. Now I feel I am being asked to choose between colleagues friendship and maybe their co-operation at work, and the ability go ahead with my plans to clear debts.

The management are being incredibilty stupid in their attitude, and this is causing a lot of anger. We have two grades of supervisor, one is rostered to a position at a specific station. This means that individual knows what shift and what rest days they have well in advance. The second is a "relief" supervisor. This individual is there to cover a set amount of stations, and only gets to know their duties and where they are working four weeks in advance. The only saving grace is that they have a rest day roster. This means that depite the fact they don't know their duties too far in advance, they do know what days off they have and can at least make some plans.

Now management have stated that because of the job cuts, and new rosters being introduced, the rest day roster is now "Not applicable", and they will be allocated rest days on a four weekly basis. This also means that in theory, they could be allocated no weekend restdays for the foreseeable future (if ever). As most people can see that this is rather unfair and doesn't conform to the company's own "worklife" balance. There has been no consultation, the staff worked out a new rest day roster that conforms to the business needs but it has been rejected out of hand with ne explanation as to why. Staff feel that management are just using the implementation of teh rosters as an excuse to get rid off the rest day roster.

    Your opinions are appreciated.

Off to the sweatshop right now.

    Stay safe people.
  • Dear all, just on a quick break from the daily grind. Cup of chicken soup in hand and a avid eye on the forum. More research today, and the idea of setting up a website for all my bits and bobs that I sell to my friends. Will have a look at the matrix tonight and see if I can pick a few peoples brains.

A thought occurred to me recently after reading firewalkers piece about writing. Years ago I had the spark of an idea for a novel/film script but didn't follow through. Have no idea how to start a film script but would love to give it a go. Will be another thing to looki in to.

As for the new egg card, is not the one I wanted with the 0% and am slightly peeved about that. I spoke to a woman at their call centre and they assured me that I can cancel and reapply for the right card. Tried that and the site is down until tomorrow!!!! feeling full of beans today.

Onwards and upwards...Keep the faith all.

  • Just another !!!!!! day in paradise. Some scumbag has stolen my bike from the train station bicycle rack. This is the 3rd in 5 years. When I spoke to the station staff they have told me that the CCTV doesnt cover that area. I then find out the bike lock used (supposedly insured lock that if my bike gets stolen they will re-imburse me for the cost of the bike) the company state that because the lock has been stolen/removed the insurance is invalid as I cannot prove that the lock was being used. So, 145 pound of bike, owned for less than 3 months has to waved bye bye. Oh before you ask, the contents insurance covers the bike, but I have a 200 pound excess and would lose my no claims. Need a beer

Do the lockmakers seriously expect the thieves to take the bike and leave the lock?
  • Perhaps I should take daily photos of the lock on the bike so I can then claim...I honestly don't see the point of insurance these days. All seems a bloody con to me.

I am so sorry. I had problems like this with the insurance once, it was like bashing head against a brick wall. Hope the beer was good.

  • Didnt have a beer. Am in consultation with a friend regarding a quick joint venture and shared profits. Trying to negotiate with him regarding percentages! Just had a pancakes with the kids. Am calming down. I have a spare bike that I will have to make do with for at least 6 months but need a new bloody padlock. Have more overtime on Sunday so will ease the pain somewhat.
