yes brilliant quote! Having read this thread late lastnight I decided that its selfish of me to only worry about my own debt and so after a lengthly chat with my OH we have decided (or I offered) to pay the £3,000 debt she has - and have worked out a budget today, feel so much better now!

What I read of lastnight (and yes I stayed up until 3am to read everything) you have a wonderful family and you are doing so well trying to turn your debt around - really is inspiring, and gave me the push I needed today!
Life is what you make it.
  • Dear all, Many thanks to all that have bothered to read this thread. A lot of people have stated that I have come far,and to a certain degree I have. Unfortunately the final destination is the ultimate aim, and still a long way off. I want to move out of 2010 with good thought and deeds. No "new years resolutions", just promises to myself.
I will face the future head on.
I will continue to confront the fear.
I will TRY to the right things.

    Bring on 2011.
  • Morning all. New year, same old story! Off to footy (definately not a NSD!). The for a home made curry with friends I don't see often enough. Have known the couple for over 35 years and have been a constant in my life. You know that you can count your true friends on one hand, and these two would be the first two fingers. Helpsed son with his homework this morning and got told off for interfering by him. Bloody know it al!

    More soon.
  • Back to work tonight. Such is life! Will spend my break checking out a few wholesale sites that I have been recommended, as well as my usual chinese sites. The only problem with the chinese sites is the time it takes for orders to arrive. This can be up to 4 weeks and ties money up that could be better utilised else where. If anyone knows of a site that can improve on delivery times, I would sure like to know.
Just found out the wife has spene 100 pound on new lighting for the house. The logoc being that the original light fittings do not use energy saving bulbs. So, rather than spend continually on inefficient bulbs, she decides to upgrade the lighting. With my money! Ah well, saves me wasting it on things like food etc! In all seriousness, she is probably right but not something that should be done without consultation. Anyway, this means that I have 21 to last me until 26th Jan which is new payday unless I dip into my slush fund as a last resort. Looks like I will be extending my NSD's. Hope all are well, and good things are happening for you. I am going to give the Secret another go. THis time without prejudice. Wish me luck people.

    Good Luck Mr W.

My Christmas holiday is over after tomorrow and i have still not read the rest of Hector and His Search for Happiness and did not even get very far with To Kill a Mockingbird - one of my fave books too - blooming cold floored me for the last week of hols. The Secret is still in Cellophane in my book cabinet. Must look at them when i have some free time.

William can't you tell your wife money is very tight this month and maybe she can take the light thing back? I hope so.

Too thick to know about suppliers or anything like that but i am sure your money spinning idea will be a good'un. Stay positive. You will do it.

    Hi William,

please look at the sites and rememnber that even if there is a wait this money probably should not be used better (putting it against the debt is not rellay a better use). Also, whatever happens please4 do not dip into the funds you have put aside for tradfing and ideas funding - this kind of thing is the main reason for people not to make good financially.

I agree with SW that you probably need to talk to your wife - don't tell her about the whole but she should know something of the situation. Also you have been clean for so long that...

Is this £21 for your food only or for the family as well? Does it have to cover other stuff )transport and things)? If it is only for food when at work take food from home - I cook a bit more and have the remainder for lunch the next day. Soups are also good.

Keep at it all will be fine. And 2011 will turn out to be a different kind of year - I feel it in my bones.

  • Just a quick note. I budget thus:

Money for food, petrol, CC's and all direct debits are put aside or to wife to ensure that there is more than sufficient to pay for all that is needed. What is left is mine to live on. I had budgeted to allow myself £35 a week. This would include any incidentals such as taking kids out, swimming, or minor emergencies. If this wasn't spent, then this would go into the sluch fund. Unfortunately, the wife decided to use what was left top but buy the light fittings and what with me going to footy yesterday, has depleted the reserve!. Anyway, £21 is MORE than sufficient if managed properly. My next payday is 26th January. thats 23 days from now. As I plan on at least 15 NSD's between now and then, that leaves 8 days. On those 8 days if I don't spend more than £2:60 I can stay within budget.

As for telling the wife, well, to be honest I already did, but her logic is that the current lighting units are not energy efficient and these are. So, the initial outlay will be recouped through saving on the cost of bulbs and electricity used. I could have told her to take them back but in reality I agree with her. Its just I would have liked to have been consulted.

I promise not to dip into the slush fund!!!!!!

I understand what you mean William, my HM used to buy stuff for the house without telling me, we argued but it was agreed that house purchases or any big spends would be a joint decision - Most of the time I agreed with what had been bought just like to be told before my money is spent!

Good luck on your NSD :T

  • The good thing about working nights is that I can get to listen to the test match in the background whilst completing the paperwork!
  • Good aftewrnoon all. Had about 4 hours sleep. Night shifts always screw with my body clock. Had what can only be described as a brainwave last night. Have sat and thought about this idea and the more I thonk the more I get goosebumps. Its not an original idea, its not even a clever idea. But it could work for a minimal investment and turn over could be quite considerable. I need to run it by a colleague who is a web designer, then I need to get hold of a legal expert regarding certain legalities and stumbling blocks but I think it could really work. I am excited and scared because i can see the possibilities in this as not only a second income but a replacement income and long term financial tool. My fear is that I will be too scared to seize the opportunity. Firewalker, I have contacted you regarding the Matrix and supplied my email address. Can you get back to me regarding this? Do I need to message memorygirl too? How do I get introduced?
Haven't been this excited in a long time.
