Editing message titles.

I posted a new message this morning (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=23001) and then went back to edit the title.
The ammended title shows in the thread listing but not in the forum listing.


Should the title in the forum list of messages update?

First of all Brendan, Will, Dan and Andrea have done an amazing job to get this ready. It's very difficult to appreciate the sheer scale of the conversion (and i managed to stay away rather than mess it all up).

First on the 'lost posts' actually what happened here is interesting. If you remember we removed 150,000 posts from the old boards to make it work. Yet this didnt impact the post count. However once that was converted to this board it recounted the posts. This means the post count means those people who are newer to the boards have moved up the list and older posters moved down.

As for 'was it ready to go live'. Well first of all i didn't want it down for very long, but more importantly it worked fine in testing. However there is no way to tweak it but to see how it reacts to 1000 people on it at a time.

It will get better in time. At the moment we are currently having to run the old board of the same server because of links to it - once that dies down it will help. And we need to optimise its settings. I hope by the end of the week it will work much better.

I have lost a lot of my post count! i used to have over 3000 posts and now I just have 1000! (just realised you explained why!)

Are we going to get avatars? and will I be able to change my name?

27 seconds to get on to any page ? what a waste of money if this is what the new service is going to be like I would sooner have the old one back as it was slightly faster. Sorry martin I think you have been had with this software.

The new forum has some excellent enhancements - hopefully it can be made to go faster (with stripes :cool: ). Thanks to all the techies that worked to get it up and running.

I just found the "ignore member" facility. Now....THAT is going to be useful....ahem

hey, quit moaning. Does you post count really matter?

This forum is provided free of charge and it helps you save money. Martin and his team have been working very hard to improve it and it will be a very definite improvement once they have finished tweaking.

As I said, this board is completely free, and in my opinion is fantastic. If you don't like it, don't complain, it doesn't cost you anything.

just go into 'quick links'

'edit signature' and change it

A suggestion:

It's not urgent, but some point, can you replace some of the images for these smilies with the ones from the old forum? e.g. the old animated rolleyes smile was much better than :rolleyes:

In fact I think most of the old ones were more visually appealing.

Anyone agree?
