Urgh I’m having a minor panic now! I ordered the tablecloths, bowls and plastic cutlery on Monday, it was all supposed to be delivered yesterday and we got a ‘Sorry we missed you card’ from the courier, and because it was a stupid courier it’s gone back to the depot rather than the Post Office (how I love Royal Mail for making it easy to pick up parcels from the Post Office!). Grrrr so now we have to ring them up and rearrange it for tomorrow and I’ve got this awful feeling that we’ll miss the delivery again and I’ll be having a mad rush on Saturday trying to find alternatives, and paying through the nose for them! And then there’s the issue of being stuck with a box full of useless party stuff!

On a positive note, I popped round to the in-laws last night to pick up some ribbon that MIL had bought me, even though it wasn’t what I’d asked for… but at least she tried! Anyway, she’s got the stands for the pineapple trees and she’s cut out leaves to stick in the top that actually look really good. She’s getting the pineapples today to work on tomorrow, got a text last night saying, ‘think I’ll need 11 pineapples, any ideas what to do with all the fruit?!’ so we’re going to serve it at the party, it’ll be a bit random but it looks like the whole party will be a bit random so it’ll be fine! :rotfl:

How about making some fruit kebabs Birdie? I can't think of anything more tropical looking! (Did you ever have those hedgehogs made of an orange with cocktail sticks and pieces of pineapple and cheese on? My Granny used to make them, they were the height of sophistication! :rotfl: )

LOL, OH loves pineapple and cheese on sticks, he always insists on having them at a party... and I usually 'forget' to make them! :rotfl:

Good idea about the fruit kebabs, I don't know if I could be bothered/ have the time though... I was thinking more like, 'stick it on a platter with some cocktail sticks so people can help themselves' I'm a lazy hostess!

Things feel like they're falling a little more into place, MIL is dropping off the 'right' ribbon tonight so I can finish tying my flip flops into pairs and stuffing them into the suitcase. OH didn't know about this and asked me at lunchtime, 'Errrr... why do you have masses of flip flops in the spare room?!' :rotfl: He quite likes the idea though, so phew! Dropping the giant pans off at Ma and Pa's tonight so Dad can make the chilli tomorrow. Finally got someone sorted to take photos of the photobooth so I don't have to worry about that. Re-booked the delivery of tablecloths etc for tomorrow, I just hope we don't miss it! Might ask MIL to house sit tomorrow afternoon if it hasn't arrived by the time OH has to go to work. I'm picking up the cake stand tomorrow, was going to do it today but realised that I don't have £50 for the deposit until I get paid tomorrow!

hi Birdie, your pics are lovely and your dress looks amazing in that pale gold- it really suits your colouring. I have the same dress but in ivory... and I was having dress wobbles but seeing how lovely you look in yours made me realise it will be all right 'on the night' as it were Double congratualtions on you 2 weddings xx

Monkey, I don't think my tablecloths are the kind of thing you'll be after, they're brightly coloured plastic jobbies! I got them from party delights, or something like that. Speaking of which, the parcel still hasn't arrived and OH leaves for work at 1.20, I've had to beg my neighbour to take the delivery for me as he said he'll be in all afternoon and I've left a note on the postbox, I really hope they're not total !!!!!s and leave it with him! OH helpfully said, 'Well if it doesn't arrive we'll go to Home Bargains tomorrow and get replacements'... does he not think that if HB had the stuff I wanted I'd have bought it when I saw it?! God love him.

Laura I know how you feel about the dress wobbles, but as soon as I got the dress on I forgot about all of my little worries about my hips looking big etc and just felt lovely. The dress is so floaty and light too, it was so easy to lift up to walk about it and it was great at swishing about when we were dancing! OH loved it too, I knew he was expecting me to wear something that he didn't like but he was blown away, which is nice!

The parcel didn't arrive :mad::mad::mad: Apparently it is 'company policy' not to leave deliveries with neighbours, so why put the option on the website?! I'm not happy at all, ringing the company tomorrow (if I have time, although realistically it could be Monday) to tell them where to stick their order and to refund me.

I now need to spend tomorrow morning looking for tablecloths, bowls and forks, which I really didn't need! I've bought boring white napkins since my beautiful patterned napkins were in the non-delivered order too Feeling the strain a little as I have to be finished and ready to go by 3 as my hair appointment is then, for some reason all of the hairdressers in town close at 4.30 so that was the latest appointment I could get!

I have finished tying the flip flops into pairs though and stuffed them all into the suitcase (nicely, LOL!) with a little sign saying, 'Bought new shoes to match your dress & now your feet are sore? Please help yourself to a pair of these so you can dance some more!'

Made a sign for the photobooth too, it says, 'Wish you were there? Take your holiday snaps here! 1. Grab a silly prop (or several) 2. Write us a postcard 3. Smile!'
