My Caribbean Wedding... and bringing the theme back to North Yorkshire!

No, the dress I liked has been discontinued! And I didn’t want to get 2 dresses to find that the other girl isn’t coming. My SIL got back from her holiday yesterday and I went round to see them and we’re going to go up to Newcastle soon to have a look for dresses with my Mum. When I see the other (soon to be ex) BM I’m just going to tell her that I don’t want to wait for her to make up her mind because by the time she does the summer stuff won’t be in the shops any more, and it’s not just about the dress, but the shoes, jewellery etc that has to be bought when the summer ranges are in the shops!

I also had a thought as I was wandering around shopping last week, Monsoon, H&M and East all have lovely summery window displays and I’m thinking about contacting them to ask if I can have the window bits once they’re done with them, do you think they’d do that?

I don't see why not, I worked in Accessorize a few summers ago and when the season changed in September and they were throwing the old ones away they asked if any of us wanted them so I took them up for my student flat. That particular display was only big black and white pictures on boards though, if it's something more 'solid' they might keep them to reuse? Shy bairns get nowt Birdie!

Are you going to warn the BM that you want an answer by a certain date rather than just say 'right that's it, you're out!' or have you already done this?

I suppose I will have to give her a time line to make a show of still wanting her, but I really just want to give her the boot since I can't really afford to dress her if she does decide that she can come! I could say, 'I'm going to get SIL's dress on x date, either you decide you're coming by then or I'll have to just have one BM'.

The displays they've got are just palm leaves in Monsoon, palm trees in H&M and some pretty pictures on cardboard in East, so it shouldn't be stuff that they want to re-use! I hope!

No harm in asking then! I think that's a good ploy with BM, she must know you'll want to start getting organised, especially as you're having a 'summer' wedding in February!

I know, I don't think people have thought that by the time we go all they'll be able to get in the shops will be jumpers! We keep telling my Dad that we'll have to get him kitted out and he keeps moaning that there's no rush, which right now there isn't because summer's only just starting, but they'll be getting winter stuff in come September so need to get him (and everyone else) sorted well before then.

I'm having hairband wobbles... This is what I'm getting but when I tried it on again it just didn't seem as eye catching as I remembered... It's not been paid for yet although they've got it on the order form thingy, but I kind of keep thinking maybe it isn't right? Here's the pic of me with it on again, you can't really see it....but I think maybe that's my point? I don't know if something like a big flower will look silly.... Argh, I just don't know!

i had a headband made for me , it had a big starburst fanning out from it and you deffo could see it !!

I think the hairband is very glam birdie, goes nicely with the dress. You're not about to miss it, but its not in your face either, which is as it should be, people should be looking at your face when you say your vows, not the top of your head!

How are you thinking of doing your hair? You can see it there becuase your hair's flat and straight, but if you were going to curl it (or more to the point, if it were to frizz in the heat! :eek:) you might not be able to see the hairband in amongst the hair?

I'd like my hair to done something like this I think, but the hairband may look odd... I might have to buy a cheapo one to play around with to see if it works!

I like the idea of being quite glam and glittery because it'll be such a funny clash with the setting and everyone else (and I always love looking at the funny side of things...) so I think I do want sparkles over flowers...
