Oooh, sounds cool! Has 5 got an iplayer so I can see it again?

I didn't think about asking for a freebie; they said they were sending a letter to confirm what they said on the phone so I may reply with a begging letter so I get free booze! Apparently as the B&G we get a free bottle of rum in our room anyway, which is nice!

Well OH finally spoke to the people at the club on Friday about booking it for the reception and they're being really awkward about it, they're asking for £100 (which isn't bad but we know other people have had it for free) and we can't have it until 8pm because it's a match day! It's like they just don't want our money because that's very inflexible!

    We have three options now:
    1) Go ahead and start the party at 8 but I'm not sure how I'm going to decorate it, I can try to sneak in an hour before and work round people I suppose, or decorate before the match starts and risk something getting knocked over, pulled down before the party even starts...
    2) Wait until the end of the rugby season i.e. early May so there are no time restrictions and the weather will be better so we may feel a little more Caribbeanny but I'm worried that if we leave it people will be a bit blase about the whole thing because we'll have been married for about 3 months!
    3) Look elsewhere for another venue... I don't really know of any suitable venues that are going to be cheap to hire, within walking distance of most of our guests and happy for me to go mad decorating it! I'll have to check out the cricket club since they won't be playing in March.

On the up side, my friend who owns a cafe has offered to do the catering for us. She'd had a few drinks when she offered but I'll have to discuss details with her and see if she's serious!

Hi Birdie, just catching up - thast's rubbish that they're asking so much money especially when they're only letting you have it from 8! I don't know much about rugby but could you not move it just by a week or two so that it doens't clash with a match day? Or even onto a Friday evening - you could take the day/afternoon off work to sort the decs? I'm sure there's haggling to be done on the price, esp if you know people who've had it for free, and if you tell them how many rugby lads will be going (ie, big drinkers!)

Good news about the catering though :D

Yeah, I'm thinking about having it on Friday, that would mean that people he works with can't come... which is a Good Thing! ;) The problem with fitting it around a non match day is that there are 3 teams (different abilities and leagues) so there's nearly always at least one home match throughout the season.

I've asked my catering friend to ask her people 'in the know' about getting a cheese wedding cake because she might be able to get big wheels of cheese for less than I could!

My darling Mum is home tomorrow, I'm keen to see what she's bought for the party and to see if she'd bought herself a pretty dress to wear to the wedding!

LOVE the sound og a cheese wedding cake, it's inspired! Nomnomnom!

Exciting to see your Mum, was she getting the bridesmaids' dresses in the end or not?
