My Caribbean Wedding... and bringing the theme back to North Yorkshire!

I went to try my dress on again yesterday, here's a pic! I'm standing at a funny angle so it looks a bit weird... Luckily my shoes look brilliant with it!

I also got my BM to try on some dresses and we got a few ideas but I don't think we've found the right thing yet so need to keep looking, I do quite like this one though, with cream on top and sky blue for the skirt. Need to see how my other BM looks in it, think it may drown her as she's teeny!

I'm not sure how I'm going to get on with the train, I kept getting caught up in it! I'm going to have to get a loop for it so I can hold it up I think, and, according to the lady in the shop, I need to employ someone to stay behind me flapping my train so it looks nice at all times rather than swirled around me in a mess!

We went to see another venue yesterday, as the big day is back on for next summer. The octagonal library is really nice around a third of the price of the artist studios, plus no chair or table hire necessary. Where are you having your party? Naughty OH for not booking!

We're having our party at OH's Rugby Club, it's been updated and expanded a lot in the last 2 years and it's a good venue for parties now so once I spruce it up a bit it'll be lovely, I'm sure! Plus I'm fairly confident that we'll get free hire with OH being a member and they know that our guests will put plenty of money behind the bar!

The posted invites are starting to arrive now, but I didn't put enough postage on them so people have to pick them up from the post office and pay £1.00 holding fee and 10p extra postage! Grrrr! :mad: That serves me right for assuming that they were small enough to go as regular 1st class and marching into town on a Sunday morning with OH in tow to pointedly drop the invites into the post box one by one to make him feel bad about not sending them when I was away! I sent everyone a very apologetic text yesterday saying I'd reimburse them!

It looks like the first of our friends are booking their places today! I'm so excited that someone other than close family is officially coming! :j I'm very surprised that these friends are the first to book actually as it's the boy who's friends with OH and his GF and OH haven't always seen eye-to-eye, I was convinced that she'd put her foot down and refuse to go. Although the last few times I've seen them she's been lovely so maybe she's lightened up a lot in the last couple of years??? I'm sure I'll find out how she really is after spending a week with them!

Dinah, how long are your BM dresses taking to come in? I want a rough estimate of when I need to order if I go for made to order dresses rather than high street so I can give my will-she-won't-she-come BM a deadline!

Well if he'd sent them when he said he would then the issue wouldn't have come up!

It takes 10 weeks within the US, they've told me to give it 16 weeks for them to get here (10 weeks + 10 days on the fast delivery I paid for, how does this equal 16 weeks?!), you can have a rush delivery for about £20 extra each dress which knocks 2 weeks off. Its quicker getting them direct, the physical shops quoted me 16-24 weeks, which I think is a mad ammount of time! Its not even like they're made to measure, they're just a size 10, 12 etc.

Thanks for that! I think if I do for proper dresses I want to get them ordered by the end of June-ish so they can be altered if they need to be.

I still think I'd rather get high street though, this dress is the ideal colour, but I don't like the studs on it- not very weddingy!

I know! I love the colour, I like the length, style and fabric but why stick studs all over the bust?! Stupid Mr de Lisi!
