Yeah I must have missed the update - I messaged them and got a reply that it was in their terms and conditions Now that is my next target.

Thanks Woo it is feeling great to be getting to the end of my debtedness ?? (word?) after being in debt since I was 18 - over 30 years ago!!! I have had loans to pay off overdrafts and then more overdrafts and more loans.

I want to get it all cleared as prob being made redundant next May. I need to get some savings behind me. I will let you know the link to my diary when I get started.

Best wishes to all readers and MSE'ers :)

I have been in debt since I was 18, so 13 years already - I dread to think how much I have paid in interest during this time, by consolidating and then spending again!

Sorry to hear about the redundancy, its good you will be in a position soon to get some savings behind you in preparation.

Definately let me have the link to your diary when you start one x

it's the last consolidation loan that really gets me, the amount of interest that they added on to it is just horendous. I'm intelligent so why the heck did i not suss that i was being a complete fool? I try and keep in my head that i couldn't afford to pay everything and the loan was suposed to help me get it all in order. only wish it had.

I agree, nearly all my current debt is consolidation of other debt - biggest mistake ever! I would have prob been DF by now if I hadn't consolidated to "make life easier".

Same as me, and I think it's the same for most. Consolidation is only good if it WILL actually save you money. A lot of the time it doesn't. They payments might seem affordable at the time, agh, I'm so angry with myself for being such a fool!

    Hi mrsspendalot

At the moment I have been paying for things with my debit card as opposed to cash, then rounding down the number left and sending to Lloyds. This saves me trekking to the bank to pay in coins and then paying it off Lloyds (this is what I used to do).

Do you use the 'save the change' option on Lloyds? I do this, and every time you use your debit card, it will put the change into a savings account. So spend £1.50 and £0.50 got into savings automatically. You can then pay this off on your debt, it's what I do :)

On another note, Tesco do a deal where you spend x-amount on food and you get 5p off a litre of fuel. You do a LOT more miles than me I think, you can have my ticket next time I get one if you like? Might help with your fuel costs?

I do blame the banks for this consolidation stuff - years ago Lloyds tried to sell me a consolidation loan that had a higher APR than my current loan and the cards I had at the time, when I pointed this out she said oh I see you're very rate conscious!!!!!

They will rob you blind whenever they can!

That's a really lovely offer for the fuel voucher thanks, unfortunately the Tesco's near me doesn't actually have a petrol station!
