well done in admitting everything you owe, it's a hard thing to do to admit the whole truth. to start with it's really overwhelming and you ask yourself constantly how it happened and how you could let it happen.
working out a date is always good as it's something to kick against and challenge yourself with. Yes it sound horrible now but if i remember correctly my original DFD was about 2015 which seemed like an age away, now it will be gone by this time next year. Things change and you don't know what's ahead of you.
As to your overdraft, the biggest changes i made were to move SO's and DD's towards the end of the month (wherever possible) so that i wasn't at it's limit for the whole month, this saved me about £5 in interest a month and it had almost reached £12 a month. So i used that against another debt, i also challenged myself to spend £10 less each month of my overdraft (from the month before), and when i reached £50 i reduced my overdraft limit by that amount. That was the smallest amount that i could reduce it by at any stage, and i know it took time but eventually it got a bit easier, and £10 is a realistic amount to not spend but it's enough to feel you've accomplished something.0 -
