I totally agree with Beccie. I come from a long line of spenders who I am patiently waiting for to have their LBM or even just a smidge of self awareness, so hats off to you for recognising when you slip a little. Nobody can be perfect all the time and look what you have achieved already x
Thanks Jules, my parents actually had to stop giving me pocket money when I was very young as I was terrible with it! I don't know who I get it from as they are really careful.LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

Also this year has been a bit crazy with so many changes taking place, it would be nice to get back to some stability but I can't see that happening anytime soon.
Think this makes a big difference too.
A large chunk of my debt came from when I split with my ex - it wasn't just bills I couldn't really afford, it was cause everything changed and I found myself spending on all sorts of things.
Things will settle down in the end - it might be 2018 at the moment but all sorts of things could pop up between now and then which will help you pay it back quicker xDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Go with it being 2018 and then at the end of each month you can work it out again still just on minimums and then see how the extra payments each month have made the difference.
Could be good to see how much say an overpayment of £50 a month adds up to maybe give yourself a target to aim for each month
That's a good idea, there is no way I want it to take another 7 years :eek:LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

I do think its played a massive part, my rent increased and my fuel more than doubled and so on.
I am hoping that by setting a realistic budget to go forward with I will be able to stick to it and make extra payments. Being strict with myself is the only way, as soon as I allow myself any flexibility I am straight back into the cycle of wasting money.LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

I didn't know you used £1,000 as a car deposit...you hid that from me!!! :rotfl:
It's been a tough year for you in many ways and when big changes like that occur it does take time to settle and get used to different outgoings. I'm now back on the wagon too with a similar budget so I am sure we can compare notes and gee each other along

It's all good. As others have said you will be saving money with the new car. No shouting from me
At least you have worked out the true figures.
Debt at worst: £33000 (Feb 2011). Present debt: £25610 (Apr 2012)
Lloyds old (22.4%) = 560 (Dec 2012)0
