I am owed £209 from friends and as soon as they pay up it will be going straight against the Lloyds c/c.

  • At least you are being honest and are facing up to the situation.

I don't think we need to shout at you, you know what you've done and what you need to do to sort it out...

I think I am always going to be a spender, as soon as I have access to cash I start buying stuff :(

Oh don't be too hard on yourself. You have a plan and you're taking steps to fix it. You're being honest with yourself and sensibly working out how to sort it, well done x

    We won't shout :)

Clearing debt is never straight forward. A £1,000 might have gone on the deposit for the car but that will save you money in the long run.

One thing - can you close the o/d down as you go to stop you using it again as you pay bits off? I can reduce the amount on mine in £10 increments.

Good to be honest and add all the debt to your sig - also would be worth working out your DFD - might be scary to begin with but will give you something to work on to try and bring it closer x

Also I don't think you will always be a spender - I've had more than one LBM on much lower amounts of debt as well over the last 10 years, and it's taken till this one to truly deal with it.

What I'm trying to say is I think everyone slips up from time to time, you haven't even been debt-busting for 2 years yet, so it may take more time for all the good habits to be fully there x

I will have to speak to Lloyds and see if I can reduce it to remove the temptation!

I don't really know how to go about working out my debt free date as my payments vary every month? Based on minimum payments though its 2018 lol!

I totally agree with Beccie. I come from a long line of spenders who I am patiently waiting for to have their LBM or even just a smidge of self awareness, so hats off to you for recognising when you slip a little. Nobody can be perfect all the time and look what you have achieved already x

I hope so Bec's, I don't want to clear it all and run it up again! It just seems to be my nature to say sod it, it will be fine! I think it comes down to a lack of patience.

Also this year has been a bit crazy with so many changes taking place, it would be nice to get back to some stability but I can't see that happening anytime soon.

Go with it being 2018 and then at the end of each month you can work it out again still just on minimums and then see how the extra payments each month have made the difference.

Could be good to see how much say an overpayment of £50 a month adds up to maybe give yourself a target to aim for each month :)
