hi all, sorry I havent been posting properly over the past few days, I have been reading though! why is it when I'm not at work I seem to have less time than when I am? got the kitchen painted on friday, looks so much better now. we did it white (was builders magnolia before) which clashed with the white cabinets terribly, after living here for nearly 3 years its taken that long to get around to painting it :rotfl:
I went to hobbycraft this morning but was disappointed with the selection, I did however get some pink square baskety plant-pot style things for 35p each, and a reduced glittery spring colours mat stack. I was really hoping for one of the £14.99 ones that had been stupidly reduced but alas no luck! sounds like rusty must have had all the stock re-directed to her local one :rotfl:
some fab makes on blogs everyone, I have been trying to keep up with my commenting!!0 -
Rusty Have you got a Dunelm Mill near you? They sometimes have off cuts of material quite cheap? Fab cheapy stash from Hobby craft by the way.. not made it there yet.. prob all gone by the time I get there

Rusty my local range has material as well not a huge range but might be something.
I went to Hobbycraft to see if I could get any bargin DCWV papers but nope there wasn't any in my store at all couldn't leave empty handed so I bought so flowers lol0 -
Hi Gemm, not guilty, I made the staff at mine go check out the back for the 12x12 but they had none! Mine are all small ones! I desperately wanted a couple of the big ones though! I even hoped they would have loads of them so I could buy them for people on here who couldn't get to the store or have them in theirs but nothing like that either
What I was meaning to ask was for help or inspiration! I need to make a get well soon card for a man, only thing is I want it to be quite a bright and cheery one, he is currently undergoing chemo and he is very very ill, There is a 98% chance that he isn't going to live much longer but he is such a funny and great bloke that is has all happened so sudden! (he started with stomach pains last autumn and only in March did they take him seriously and give him a scan, then they discovered cancer but it is quite strong and fierce) So my thoughts were a get well soon type card but with a beer or something like that on it? Just to keep the mood light etc? Has anyone got any ideas for me as I really would like to make a card for him but don't want to take the easy option and buy one!
Just found out I got into the crafty ribbons challenge so have some strawberry ribbons coming my way :j anyone else doing it on here?Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

Thanks, don't think we have one of them here I will have to investigate, I know there is a yorkshire trading company and they do material, I did look in hobbycraft and found some fab camoflauge material but refuse to pay £9.99 per metre :eek:dragonllew wrote: »Rusty my local range has material as well not a huge range but might be something.

Rusty Don't know what your charity shops are like, but maybe there will be material or something there suitable for cutting up.. curtains / bedspreads etc??
Congrats on your ribbon win :T
Sorry to read about your friend and his diagnosis... I am afraid I can't help with any suggestions for the card, I am ultra sure the very talented ladies on this thread will be more than able to help you...:)Self imposed crafty stash ban: started again 22/8/10 1 whole month stash free!

hope everyone had a fab easter:j
sorry I haven't posted for ages - noone told me when I volunteered to be on the boys' theatre group committee it was sort of expected to go every week and not they are into intensive rehearsals several times a week for hours at a time:eek: so I haven't had much time in the house recently
I have managed to make a few things in between rehearsals and have eventually put them on my blog.
rusty if you go to Stockton I would love to come too:D
sorry to be off topic but I have some fab news...and I can't tell anyone! after every show that the theatre group perform they give an award to the child who the committee feels have made progress, put in max effort and gone the extra mile. both boys were nominated and the decision was unanimous - the only problem they had was which one to choose, so they have chosen both of them:j normally it is only one so they have had to order another trophy. the boys are going to be so chuffed. only OH and I know and we can't tell anyone!
next week I will have more time to read the thread, craft and post:Tsaving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200
£60 deposit paid :j £100 paid:j £40 paid:j0 -
Rusty - What sort of material are you looking for? I've no idea what size or sort of a thing you are trying to make? Might you find a dark coloured sheet or pillow case somewhere or would that not be thick enough. Going to look now for card ideas.
Hassy - Only for bead & milk then on to mother in laws to sort out her TV (she has Alzheimers) & help put away mega shop Tesco were delivering. DH sorted the TV & left it on the channel she wanted & even as I type MIL's just phoned to say 'it's not working' (Mr Nobody's been in again, I guess):(0
