This so reminds me of my Mum. When we were small in 1950's, Dad was the only wage earner and with 4 kids money was tight - if Mum wanted a new dress/coat etc. Dad would say "if you want it, get it" at which point poor Mum would loose all interest in her new clothes unless it was vital that she had something.
How times have changed!
I was brought up in the 1940's -real make do and mend time..........when I think of the things Mum went without so me and my brother could have something.
Still, her ways have stuck with me.........just as well with OH being off work...............amazing what you can create out of nothing. I now have three 'pamper pots' (full of freebies) and found 3 twix tubes in my stash room.............wondering what I can do with them that'll cost me next to nothing.............:rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Just wanted to pop on and say I am definately safe for the NEC, I was worried that I would let people down as I didn't know when my Grannybashers funeral would be, but my aunt called and it is a week today
so excited that I can go with the spendy elves to the NEC :j :j but I am gutted that I have to make things real and say goodbye to my lovely basher
Now I just need to work out about gettin Tom the day off school and Missy the day off nursery, and OH needs to sort out a day off aswell, he may well have to work this weekend and have a long weekend next week as he would need to be off wednesday back to work thurs then drive home again on thurs night to be at home on the Fri!

I haven't seen the blending thing online anywhere (it might help if I knew what it was called), so have no idea what that costs - I'll have a look at the NEC next week. I hope it's not too expensive!
wanna-b-rich - well done
Here it is - this one is different to the one I bought, mine had felt squares not foam, not sure if I have bought the correct one. Need to check!!
Just read up ad the felt pads are good for alcohol inks but the tool takes any of the pads so now just have to look for some foam pads!!!!
Tim Holtz does make it look very easy, not so sure my blending will be as good as his. The water blending looks messy and not sure if I like the effect of those colours all mixed in together!!! Can you use a normal travel hair dryer to dry the inks??The E-mail of the species is more deadly than the mail.0 -

Tiny what a stash!!! Oooh just think what you can do with all that...
Rusty I am glad you can make nec, it will be a good day out for you. It will be difficult for you a week today though will be thinking of you.
Point of no return I can't see anything wrong with the felt square one.. infact, when I was at a demonstration watching those being used a couple of weeks ago, a money saving tip was given... because it is felt, the squares you can buy quite cheaply from markets etc can be cut up to the required size and that can work out a lot cheaper than buying the replacement squares in packetsSelf imposed crafty stash ban: started again 22/8/10 1 whole month stash free!
I must not buy stash, I must not buy stash, I must not buy stash!0 -

Well I will try it with the felt and see how it goes!!! I have a big roll of felt I bought the other day for $1 here which would make loads and loads!!!! Was the demonstration for the Distress ink then??? That would be a good session to attend , lucky you - I don't think we have any reasonably priced classes where I normally am in the UK!!The E-mail of the species is more deadly than the mail.0 -

JHB I fancy one of them too, not that I have any inks yet mind! I saw Tim using it on the QVC shows a couple of weeks back, my NEC list is growing rapidly, I may have to take out a second mortgage with all the stuff I want :rotfl:0 -
Ponr The demo was FREE!!! That was a big bonus. The lady was using the 'spreader' as I call it for both distressed inks and alcohol inks from what I could see. There were free demo's at the craft show last week end too. Maybe one of the other crafters can clarify what I said?Self imposed crafty stash ban: started again 22/8/10 1 whole month stash free!

Ooops I was showing my ignorance... it isn't a 'spreader' it's a 'blender.'. :doh:Self imposed crafty stash ban: started again 22/8/10 1 whole month stash free!
