the stuff I've used recently is mica pigment powders ali, I love them
totally off topic but is anyone else watching the business inspector? £75 for the flower-dog?
Hmmm now I am going to sound even thicker ... what are mica powders? what do you do with them? how do you use them? are they much different to the distress inks as when I asked abotu distressing in the scrapbook shop in durham I was told I could use a pigment chalk or a distress ink??

Hi I've only just found this thread but noticed a few comments about stamping and inking up etc.
I advise people to put stamp on table and press ink pad to the stamp or hold them in your hands and tap them together in front of you. If you getting the ink pad surround in your image you may be pressing too hard or more likely you have rocked the stamp. You only need to press straight down, Im only short so quite often have to stand up else I can't get the pressure straight down for stamping. It the same with paper punches!
I also use whispers markers. Make sure it not the permanent ones! Colour your ink stamp, if it has taken you a while then re-moisten the ink before stamping onto paper but breathing or "huffing" onto stamp. The stamp as usual. The main advantage of using the pens is that you can add several colours all at once which can be handy for things like flowers with foliage.
Always try to store your ink pads upside down so that the ink is at the top of the ink pad when you go to use it. It means you don't ahve to refill them or replace them as often.
Sorry for all the waffle. I teach card making and demonstrate for a craft company so just wanted to pass on some of tips that people have found useful!

I think a pigment chalk is a type of inkpad, I have some Versamagic dewdrop ones.
Mica pigments are like fine shimmering powders, I bought them after I saw some fab cards that glittermum made using themyou stamp with a clear ink such as versamark then dust the powders over and they adhere to the stamped image, the last 2 cards on my blog have been made using them
apparently you can mix them with water and use them as coloured spritzers too but I havent been brave enough to try that yet in case I make a mess :rotfl:
hope your little missy is feeling better soon!!0 -

Yes I have a couple of the dew drop ones, mine are memento, and I have a versafine one aswell I think?
Not heard of them but is it really that easy? what do you use to dust them over? Is it similar to embossing?? do the colours mix well or not? Presumably it needs to be quite a solid stamp (rather than an outline) to get a nice effect?
I hope she is aswell cause I am completely exhausted!
DTB - Have posted on your blog, and also sponsored you!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
I'm shattered - had another order today but she needs it for tomorrow (is on my blog) just realised it doesn't fit in the biggest envelope I've got though whoops and don't have the time or the energy to make a box! Am being paid in victoria sponge - bonus!
Had major smug moment at work today - our head of service (who I've been having problems with) threw a wobbly in a meeting and was crying and shouting at the HR director in our stairwell not very professional - maybe she'll be politer in her emails to me in future if she ever shows her face again after she disappeared off home this morning......................:D.
Hope your small child has a great trip craftygran
Fab stash Tiny
Great x stitch Bunbun
Glad your scorpal turned up Gemma was only wondering about it this afternoon - I used to take ages to measure everything now I can make stuff in minutes
Glad you'll see your dad Rusty - shame about the reason though
Hugs to everyone who needs them
Have seen the inks demonstrated and really not my thing but am sure you will make some fab stuff - me and the cat would just end up covered in them and be very distressed :rotfl::rotfl:Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Have just updated my blog with the cards I have made for this months swaps and the card and box I made for crafty ribbons.
Going to go to bed now as have a banging headache that I can't seem to shift will catch up on everyones blogs tomorrow.0 -
Hassy - thanks for the link to Frazzled Crafts and have a fab weekend. x
Rusty - Hope your grannybashers funeral goes ok. x
Tiny - wow, how much stash! enjoy x
Gemm - glad your scorepal finally arrived
JHB - I understand that they will be getting more at that price (I also want the Judkins sticky stuff, so playing a waiting game atm).;)
Thrifty - sounds like a plan to me!:D
Twinkle - I take the pad to the stamp and tap it gently all over until it's evenly inked. If you accidently get some on the edge of the stamp use a baby wipe to remove it, but if you use the aove technique you should get any on the edges and will be able to see that your stamp is evenly inked. There is a lengthy stamping feature in this months Papercraft Inspirations Mag (and 16 clear stamps as the freebie).
Madfrog - which Ink It Up Ink are you using? I have their embossing ink pad and I normally wipe the card with an antistatic wipe, stamp my sentiment/image then cover the image with embossing powder. Gently tap it to remove the excess and then heat it with my heat tool. I hope I haven't mis-understood what your trying to do?
Paddington - your boss sounds like a complete mare!
I'm off to blog hop now and then to bed early as I have to dress DS as a Roman Emporer tomorrow and we haven't had a dummy run:eek:0
