I used to have "My Girl" or "Girl" magazine when I was young can't remember the exact title. Like rainmac though I adored Enid Blyton but was a Secret Seven girl rather than Famous Five.

    X

I LOVED Enid Blyton. My favourite of hers were the 'Something of Adventure books' I loved the Valley of Adventure, the Ship of Adventure, Island of Adventure, River, Circus, Sea, etc etc! They were fab.

Also loved The Secret Series, like The Secret Island where they ran away from their mean aunt and uncle and had to grow all their own food to seat and stuff.

And loved all the school ones - Malory Towers, St Clares and the Naughtiest Girl ones.

Has anyone heard they are rewriting her books into 'modern' language and rereleasing them. There are a few bits I'd change like in the fairyland books they have Gollywogs named the N word and perhaps tone down the "Gosh George, you can't do that, you're just a girl." But I read them all as a child and understood perfectly, and I'm only in my 20's now, so I'm sure kids today will cope just fine!

I'm off to see a-ha this November - lurved them back in the day!

Things went ok at the hospital - they're ordering me a new lens and then have a back up plan b of large hard lenses so I'm safe from the dreaded 'surgical options' for a while. Will take a while for my new lens to arrive though - they're made to measure in Germany I believe so have a couple of weeks left of eye strain headaches to look forward to.]

Off to my first PTA meeting this evening re the school christmas fair. I've ordered a quickcutz die from ebay for reinderr soup and will take in coaster calendars, peg magnets etc to show them this evening. Anyone else have any other ideas that won;t take too much time (and can be done by the partially sighted ;-) LOL)
also want to order some cone bags from ebay but are they all the same size off there? it's not clear - don;t want to end up with something that is too big / or little to be useful. Will also use them for "&sons" party bag - he's having his birthday party a month after his birthday so I have a little while to sort that out

Marg - We thought that maybe the case last term and he wears glasses so we took him and got them checked up just to make sure, and they said his glasses he had were the right ones. I am hoping it is just something like him just being a bit lazy lol There is a test he can do apparently so maybe we will try that.

PepPop - that is perfect thank you!!

DS1's teacher had a word this morning and said she has concerns with him, as he can read and is really good at maths, but has trouble with his writing, doing the simplest of things like copying from the board and suggested he may be dyslexic  So i have come back and had a look and think she maybe right :( I will speak to her when i go and collect him this afternoon and see where we go from here.

Last night, while i was tidying up i was saying to OH must go into town in the next couple of days to get his birthday card for Monday and he goes 'oh i thought you would make me one!!' So i said 'I didn't think they were good enough' so he then says 'i will be disappointed if you don't!!' So talk about pressure!! So question time now :rotfl:Can anyone point me in the right direction for a golfing bear?
KMS my son is dyslexic but has come on leaps and bounds since they tested him he had extra help at school and over the past 4 years has caught up to where he should be, he was 2 years behind with his reading, spelling and writing.
I think I may have a golfing bear just going to switch the other computer on and I'll let you know.

My friends son had similar 'difficulties' - turned out he couldn't see the blackboard! Might be good to get your son's eyes tested? Oh & don't worry too much my friends son got a 1st class Honours degree.

Hope your blood tests are OK.

Sorry but just reading Marg's comment, is your son left handed? my son has no learning difficulties of any kind (other than I wish he would shut up once in a while) but he is left handed and the teachers are always going on about his writing and how long it takes him to write things etc etc blah blah ... when my OH came to parents evening with me I sat trying not to laugh as his response was oh well thats cause he is left handed, to which the teachers reply was something along the lines of that being rubbish, OH then went on to say well I am 34 and left handed, and I still can't write so no need to panic about Thomas! lol Good luck to you though.

DTB - glad things went ok for you. xxx Have they said what it is causing it? Have you had scans etc?

Can't remember what else I have read! I have been crafting! 1 card and 2 DT projects so far, I have blogged the card in the usual place!

Bunbun - Hope you and the boys got on ok? will ring you later in the week xxx

DS has gone back to school, DD cried as he walked away so I took her round to the nursery for her induction. She refused to tell any of the teachers her name, and refused to say goodbye when we left, apart to one teacher who knew her nana and Granda!! :rotfl: Stubbon little mare ;) off to meet DS's teacher very soon, promised kids if weather stayed nice then we would walk to and from school :)

Hope everyone has a good day!

Well done to all of the winners :j
